I bought a Fish Tales a couple weeks ago. When I went to lift the playfield, I was surprised to find that it did not have the normal playfield slides with a spring that I see pictured on other Fish Tales and that are described in the manual (part A-15421-1 and A-15421-2).
What it does have are straight rails with no hooks or mechanisms on the front or back. When I pull the playfield out, it eventually slides off the rail and the playfield drops onto the wood. Lifting the playfield straight up is a bit precarious. It can be done, but it's definitely not working as intended.
At the Ohio Show this weekend, I bought some used playfield slides, but when I went to swap them in, I found that the holes for the two different styles of slides do NOT line up at all, there are no holes drilled for the new style slides, and the old style is actually attached with two T-nutted machine screws in addition to two wood screws.
I took some pictures of what I've got below. I'm just curious if anyone has seen this before or has an explanation.
Thanks!
