While doing my yearly battery change I had the back box open, and when I powered up, a resistor blew (caught fire for a second or 2). I’ve tried googling the resistor with no luck. Can someone tell me where I may be able to buy these? Another question I have, is this something that just happens over time or should I be looking for a cause? Any help appreciated.

Ok so found an old post stating these 1uf axial tantalum capacitors originally rated at 35 volts should be replaced with 50v. I found some at a store called mouser electronics. There are several ones to choose from and I'm not sure what I need exactly. This is the link to the products I'm seeing.

    https://www.mouser.ca/c/passive-components/capacitors/tantalum-capacitors/?capacitance=1%20uF&m=KEMET&termination%20style=Axial&voltage%20rating%20dc=50%20VDC

Can someone point me to the correct replacement? Thanks

Common problem. Those tantalum caps burn up spectacularly after a while.

I've replaced them with the same uF value electrolytic cap successfully, easier to find.

Maybe what is throwing you is the percentage value at the end of the specs. Believe this to be just a tolerance similar to a silver or gold band on a resistor. I would opt for as small a tolernwxe as possible. Just match the capacitance and go up to 50 volts on rhe voltage and you’ll be all set

    Hope this helps

Thanks for the help guys, ya GPS it was the percentage values that had me second guessing.
