I was not going to make a new thread for this because it is a well known problem. But after finding two very interesting problems after pulling the main board out, I thought I would share some photos.
I posted some of this in my "Addams Family down for the count" thread already.
Anyway my friend has a Fish Tales that got the dreaded " Check fuses F114 and F115" message.
Here is what I found after taking the board out to troubleshoot.
The Bridge Rectifier has totally cracked and needs to be replaced.
Then my son says "hey, look at that fuse on the bottom right."
Somebody has soldered a wire across the outside of the fuse. WTH!
This must be what caused the GI connector to totally burn up just below it. The connector, both male and female are toast and must be replaced.

Quoted from johnwartjr:

Never seen a bridge crack like that.
I doubt the hacked fuse caused the connector to burn. GI connectors on WPC pins burn.

Quite true.
I am just guessing as the female connector disintegrated as soon as I touched it.
Every other GI connector was white as can be.

Quoted from johnwartjr:

Would be interesting to see how many bulbs are on that particular string(GI string 1 is pins 1 and 7) versus the other 4.
Once bulbs 'silver', they draw significantly more current.

We are also putting in LEDs for him, so that should help as well.

Just pulled the BR5 off the board.
It had this large diode soldered across the crack.
I am guessing this is not standard and was someones attempt to patch the cracked BR?

I have replaced a few BR's in my day. But have never come across anything as crazy as this.
