Quoted from Riefepeters:

I’ll be lighting that casters club too! My approach will be to use comet matrix system. Probably easiest to use a bendie wedge lamp in a wedge matrix socket. That matrix socket can tie into one of the nearby lights using a bayonet bulb with the matrix extension.
That’s what I’d do but I’m curious if you guys lit it up another way?</blockquote

Who sells the drop target in that clear opaque? you can light it up a few ways, small strip or a couple bendies.

Well damn, just got a pinballlife last week.
In my cart, buying many.

#3703 2 years ago

My wife is creative and makes custom target decals for me. Gotta add the drop target one yet...

Thanks, Lloyd! I asked her to isolate that angry fish. She did a nice job. The ice cream is a reference to the Eskimo holding the extra ball spear.

Eskimo pies are chocolate.

That's an orange creamsicle.

Yep, definitely. Wife told me the same thing. “That’s a chocolate ice cream on a stick he’s holding.” I agreed, she’s prob right. But I prefer orange creamsicles.
Really I liked the orange and blue colors for the target. Went well with the artwork, which looks kinda orange to me.

I installed the translucent drop target and put a blue star post led under it. Helps it stand out. Added my decal too. Is it me, or do you rarely see the drop target pop up unless the setting is on “hard”? I like the lock shot a bit harder anyway. What a great game FT is!

I don't know if you fixed your switch/ball stuck problem, but if you haven't, it is because you have the wire actuator bent to the wrong shape.

This one from marco should work and fix your problem. This is the shape it should be to allow the ball to roll over it either way.

Quoted from Pinkitten:

Looks COOL although it's kind of a shame that the decal negates the overall glow effect of the translucent target but that's unavoidable. I meant to order one of these targets in my recent PL order...damn it... forgot

Thanks for the tip , but that switch doesn't have the proper shape. It is a tight fit in that corner, so the switch has been moved to the side a bit, making the shape custom. I tried increasing the slope of the playfield , but I didn't like the way the game played afterwards, so I brought it back down to where I had it. The issue hasn't been bothering me as much lately. With the current shape of the actuator , if the ball hangs there , just jiggling the machine a bit usually sets it free.

Went to go play FT tonight solenoids aren’t working
Ran soleniod test no soleniods were activated w coin door closed
Check all fuses on circuit boards, didn’t see any fuses under PF.

What am I missing?

Pull fuses and check with a meter ?

If all good, then measure the 50 volt test point on the driver board, maybe the 50 volt bridge rectifier opened.

LTG : )

#3722 2 years ago

Previously pulled fuses checked w DMM. All good
Checked for 50 Vdc tp #6 driver board measured 74 Vdc and measure @ flipper solenoid measured 74Vdc

That's weird.

I'd try a different ribbon cable between CPU and Driver Board next if you can.

Swapped out ribbon cable that goes between cpu & driver board no change

Could the coindoor switch be flakey?

#3727 2 years ago
Quoted from 2pupPinz:

Could the coindoor switch be flakey?

In my fish tales, nothing is interlocked with the coin door. The tests will tell you the switch is opened but it doesn't cut any power anywhere.

#3728 2 years ago

Swapped out driver board w spare, FT works as it should.
Will take driver board to my board guy for testing to further isolate / solve issue.

Have FT 3D BG for sale.

Having an issue where the ball trough kick out sometimes repeatedly bounces the ball back in the trough. Happens a lot more during multi ball, going to try to adjust the kick out sheet metal guide but anyone else have to deal w this?

Think I remember someone saying it was the kicker arm that needed adjusting when this happened.

I have the same issue during multi ball.

I know this will be a long shot but is anyone willing to sell a new CPR mini boat playfield? If so shoot me a PM.

Thank you!

I just got one from Micro shipped for $160. Email them or message on here to see if they have any more, looks great.

I ended up bending some of the sheet metal parts surrounding the trough a bit to slightly redirect the ball, seems to have worked.

Wife bought me my first 2 pins on the weekend. This FT which i picked up today and a STTNG that I’m picking up tomorrow after work. As a young bloke a local Fish and Chip shop had a FT and WH2O that i use to go and play all the time. Now to own one is a awesome. It plays amazing, everything works. Playfield could do with a bit of clean, replace rubbers and new balls, also side artwork could be replaced. Some will be fixed this weekend and the rest all in good time, just to play and enjoy it for now! Anyway when i get a chance ill read thru the all posts on this thread and see what i can learn and some ideas for mods.

Congrats mate .
I just Googled fish tales mods and went to all the usual pinball websites to see what I could find .
I thought it was a Wizard of Oz at first glance

I’ve had a bit of a google already and checked some pin sites.
Yes its a similar green they have done it in. When i get to around to redoing the artwork then may change colour. But very happy with it for now.

Nice additions! Your FT has faded from orange to tan. Luckily the tan matches the green armor perfectly.

Hi, fellow fishermen. I was able to find a Monster Fish mod. I attached it to the socket under the Monster Fish hurry-up insert, which is a 6.3v socket. The lights in the eyes barely light up. Is this mod designed for 12v power, from a flasher? Is there a best location for his eyes to come on during Monster Fish mode?

Thanks!

Sometimes an image won't load on Pinside. Right-click and select 'open link in a new tab' usually works.

The image server was down last night. There were problems all over pinside with images not loading.

If I remember correctly it connects to the socket under the purple feeding frenzy fish in the left orbit. Here are the directions I found:

Come on monster fish!! You were supposed to catch the bloody ball and lob it back onto the play field, not get clubbed in the back of the head with it

New Fish Tales owner here. I’m loving the game but I need to shop it out as it has not been cleaned in a long time and the rubbers need to be replaced.

Is there a shop-out video/doc anywhere showing steps to follow to remove everything off the playfield?

Any areas to be careful with as I start the disassembly?

Regards

Peruman
