Quoted from Digduglus:Joined the club today. She's no looker (and needs a topper) but she's fully working and super fast. This will be a fun project next summer
[quoted image]
Looks like it will turn out really nicely. The topper looks cool, but was the first thing I unhooked on mine. It was super annoying in a home environment (to me anyway).
Have fun with the refreah!
Chris
Quoted from SilverUnicorn:The topper looks cool, but was the first thing I unhooked on mine.
With the dome installed the topper is not too bad, but we each have our own tolerance level for noise. I enjoy how the topper shakes the whole pin as if a shaker was installed.
After getting a spike2 pin, I got so sick of the knocker squeal, that I disabled every new and old knocker in my gameroom. Not a hard decision since I am sure some of my guests were likely overwhelmed by the sound of knockers.

I love knockers. Even on pinball machines!
Quoted from mslow:Thanks to Ron Kruzman, Marco Specialties, Brian Allan and Chris Hibler my Fish Tales restoration is looking gorgeous! I’m close to finishing.

looks great!
Quoted from Kneissl:I’m back in the club for the third time! Whitewater was missing his tub topper brother.

Ha! I'm on my second FT and second WH20. They do seem like they belong together!
Quoted from rwalters21:somebody sell me their beautiful FT please!

251A37AF-54AF-4684-9F95-03AF74F0666A.gifAnyone have art blades they really love?
I'm torn on what I should go with.. I like the flyland design, but the "fish tales" on the one side seems out of place and I worry the different art style might clash too much.. Thinking maybe the tilt graphics with water and empty boat is a safer play.
Chris
I placed a switch on the coindoor, with a 3D printed plastic part. The switch is connected to J130 connector, pin#9, purple/gray wire.

the best game ever, just got a little better
[quoted image]
I like the pin2DMD color job much more on whitewater. I am running a name brand colorDMD on Fish Tales.
I have a Pin2DMD that came with mine. It looks great but I need to turn the screen on separately from the machine and I have no idea the reason. He plugged it into a on/off switch which is plugged into the operator's power socket.
Weird, I’ve used a cheap switching power supply to power displays, the violet wires that run to the dmd board for generating the plasma voltages are ~100vac. Then you don’t draw power off the wpc system.
Quoted from daveyvandy:They have to be next to each other!
They must!
I love the simple art blades above by Tilt with the orange sky. I wonder what happened with the empty boat. Monster fish attack?

Pin2dmd usually plugs into J116 for Fish Tales.
Harness for display has the connector to splice it properly.

100% agree. I have the same on my Whitewater and Fish Tales

I had the fish tales wording removed from the art blade cost me extra but looks good now
Quoted from mzhulk:I had the fish tales wording removed from the art blade cost me extra but looks good now
Pics? You just asked them to remove it? Cool.
Only played Fish Tales virtually until 2 weeks ago. Thought I'd just have this game for a month or two before trading it but man, it's kind of an addicting game so it might be here longer! I can now see why people like it so much!
I might get mirror blades for the first time since there are so many extra leds in this game!
Quoted from jrcmlc:I'm on the fence about doing a color DMD with the dots, or the "runny crayon" full LCD unit for my FT. Thoughts? Anyone have a comparo?
Colordmd gives you the option of dots, large dots or solid. Best of all worlds. I like the dots on FT.
I have a dots-only unit I may throw in it and see. Wondered if anyone was using the non dot version and if it looked better.
Got my FT home....Ordering comets tomorrow but unclear on if I need the OCD board and if the flashers are just over the top bright. Thoughts? I have the OCD board in my gofers, assume it's necessary but read several posts saying it isn't. I posted same question about TAFG in that thread because, well same question. LOL Thanks in advance.
Quoted from jrcmlc:unclear on if I need the OCD board
LED ghosting is minimal on FT, so you can get by without it.
I have regular (5 smd) LED flashers in mine and they are not too bright. I would say a little weak if anything.

The OCD board does look very nice on the inserts. It allows the slow on/off fade and makes things look authentic and less harsh. I love it on my FT.

sell me ur FT...haha
Hi folks,
Can anyone show me how the old fisherman plastic attaches to the post stud at the top hole in the attached pic? I don't want to bend the plastic as a previous owner seems to have already tried that, which resulted in the plastic breaking and is why I'm installing a new one. I don't want to repeat their mistake.
Wondering if I might be missing a bracket or something.
Thanks!

Quoted from jv2_pinball:I don't want to bend the plastic
It is supposed to be bent down to the post stud and a nyloc nut holds it in place. If you are worried about breaking it, add some heat with a heat gun.
I spent the better part of yesterday doing all new titans & comets (with ocd) and pin2dmd, plus some basic cleaning, screw tightening, unfucking of some small old things. Made a REALLY close to CQ look even better. It just looked so dim next to all my others lol
Comet has recreated their kit for FT to be more modern, using their newer stuff... Big fan.
That center ramp really makes things a pain for changing bulbs or rubbers, pops, etc..bleh. I could have likely changed all the plastics at the same time I was doing all the rest for 30min more time, it doesn't need them, but still. Bit more time than I anticipated.
I realize nobody cares lol, but just keeping the thread moving and on topic.

You do know those ramp bulbs are accessible from under the main playfield, right?
