I have had this issue occur twice in about the last month. Each time I have tested the 2 switches involved in switch test (ball launch button and shooter lane switch) and they both work. I also have unplugged and then reconnected the ball launch switch on the wiring harness. Both times, it starts working normally again. Anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this?

Quoted from pins4u:

Maybe the coil has a broken wire where it connects to the solder terminal?
Carefully inspect where the wires attach to the coil terminals.

I know exactly what your talking about and have looked at that, but did not see any problem

Quoted from PinballManiac40:

Have any battery corrosion below the battery holder on the CPU board? Posting a picture helps for others to look as well since small amounts of damage are not always noticeable by everyone.

I am at work now and the game is out on location, I will check into this as soon as I can and report back, but can’t get to it until tomorrow at best

Just a quick bump while waiting to get back to my game in case other FT owners have experienced this same issue

Well “S”… found one of the batteries had leaked a bit. Guess it’s time to buy a replacement CPU

Picture? Minor damage can be repaired.
Stay away from Pinball Basement boards.

I’ll follow up with a picture a bit later today. Thanks for the advice re: Pinball Basement boards. I did see a bit of leakage on 1 battery, a bit on the inside of the battery terminals, and what I’ll describe as “corrosion dust” on the molex connector from the CPU to the driver board

I actually found that the coil sleeve on the shooter coul was the issue, problem solved!

WRONG!

It was the coil.
