Quoted from NicoLargi:1. The ball launch is very random. Some days it launches perfectly to the left orbit, others the ball always ends its course in the LIE bank and bumpers, and others a mix of both. I am not sure if this could be related to the heat in the room, which here in the summer can get quite high (38°C).
Here's one odd mechanical issue you should check that involves the ball guide just below the saucer at the top of the playfield, which guides the ball to the left as it leaves the shooter lane: The end of that ball guide sometimes takes a hit from the ball as it shoots up through the spinner and into the LIE lanes. Over many years and thousands of plays, a burr can develop on the edge of this ball guide. This burr can deflect the ball downward and make for some "unclean" launches into the left loop, sometimes deflecting the ball into the LIE lanes.
Run your finger along the edge of that ball guide and check for the presence of a burr, and file it off if necessary. I had to do this to my Fish Tales and it helped clean-up some launch issues.
