So I have a Fischer Skyhawk (home model) that I’ve cleaned up about as far as I feel comfortable. It plays pretty well except the flippers are weak (some buzzing in the right flipper when up as well). I suspect they’ll need to be cleaned up and possibly rebuilt. I managed to find a link that said Gottlieb parts from 80-82 should work for rebuild purposes (it doesn’t appear there are many Skyhawks left in existence).

I’m a noob at this stuff (although I’m loving it and know that owning a pin comes with repair), and don’t want to fry a board on accident having watched a YouTube video or two. I also suspect that a pro repair might outspend the limited value of the machine. Is there anyone in the Cincinnati area that might be interested in showing me the ropes? I’d be happy to buy the beer.

It’s a nice little starter machine. These home model pins can be a bit harder to work on than real pinball machines due to how little is documented about them and how they weren’t really designed to be repaired.

Congrats on your game and welcome to the hobby!

Indeed. That’s where I got the idea that Gottlieb parts can be used. Nice to know there’s asbestos in there. Lol.

Thanks! I know it’s going to be a challenge. I’ve already fixed a few easier things. Looking forward to getting a legit machine someday!

The SkyHawk uses classic Stern flipper assemblies. However, you can use a Brunswick # 55-101725 flipper coil (has 3 terminals) if you want to convert to a normal flipper coil.

Thanks, Ken. This is super helpful!

John Robertson at flippers.com in Canada has some Skyhawk parts.

I looked on the website and can’t find anything. I think the first thing I’ll try is replacing the coil sleeves and brackets since after reading a bunch the coils rarely fail. I can’t really tell from the schematics what size I’ll need. Any idea? Thanks!

Contact John Robertson. He has parts, but they are not listed on his website.
