Targets don't reset during the game, specials stay on for remaining balls once all targets are down. There's a plug to adjust whether it takes three or four banks down to light the specials.

Here are a few snippets. Seems like the scoring problem is probably in the sequence relay P (yellow).

Sorry these aren't in order...the first and last go together

Quoted from Toyguy:

It's now having an issue where at random times during gameplay, it will basically shut off.

Does the Game Over light come on ( by the ball count lights)? Everything you mention feeds through the XB relay and the ball count unit. That disconnected Hold Relay and how it's switches are bypassed might be suspect, also.

Wondering which of the 2001's you picked up. I saw three inside, maybe a fourth wheeled across the parking lot Friday afternoon.

The orange and black wire on the make/ break of the hold relay powers the tilt relay, so it seems like that side of the switch should be open.

The XB (game over) relay lights both the match and game over lights. When your game abruptly goes to game over, has the ball count unit reset?

I don't have access to a schematic right now, but look for a score motor switch stack (probably 1B) that activates after the third pulse of 1A. It should have a switch that opens at that point, maybe adjusted too close and not opening until after the fourth pulse of 1A. There's also the "switch dog" which needs to be in the correct slot, L or S, refer to the score motor portion of schematic. Pin Wiki has an excellent explanation of the Gottlieb score motor.
