Nice job on the match. Probably won't be visible to a player with the pop bumper installed.
I'd just wax/mylar like you were thinking. The mylar ring will protect the paint. If the paint was exposed in a larger area you could brush on some clear acrylic. For small spots /chips probably be fine to just wax the area and call it good.
Next step is to buff the playfield with some novus 2 wax.
