Get a staple puller. It will speed up things alot.

Do they make heavy duty ones? these things are embedded deep into the wood and I doubt a regular office one would do the job

Sharpen slightly upon arrival.

Lift all the staples at once with the tool.

Then pull all the staples out with flat faced pliers.
