Hello Pinside, this is my first post and I'm looking for advise. Tomorrow I pick up my first pin and I've got the choice between rescuing a Twilight Zone or a Adams Family pin from a street. Each for the same price and each in used average condition.

I see both pins are in the top ten in pinside ratings, but while reading the user reviews two words keep popping up.. Twilight Zone seems to frustrate people, but then they learn to love it.... while Adams Family's the buzz word is just "fun".

I know this is will eventually just come down to my personal preference, but that's my problem I'm not drawn to one more than the other. Twilight seems like it might need a little more love condition wise but both are far from mint. Also, what would these machine draw in what I'd consider fair condition?

TZ and TAF were my first two pins. IMHO TAF is more enjoyable to play. You don't need as much skill to advance in the game. TZ has a very deep rule set. My wife and I ended up selling TZ because it became a chore to play. We still have TAF. Like I said, just my opinion. You really can't go wrong with either pin.

Hey and welcome to pinside.

TAF and TZ were my first also. TAF is more fun IMO. Can't go wrong but if just one I'd go TAF.

Thanks, I'm still not sure which I'll buy yet..

Lord of the rings and Theatre of Magic always call my name... maybe I should hold out and try to score one of those... buying ur first pin is suppose to be fun not stressfull..

Spend 300 and fly out to phof in vegas for the day. Play everything. You'll know the answer when you leave. They have all those titles. It's better than burning 3k+ and having buyers remorse. Decide for yourself in the real world.

Don't base your decision on personal opinions or youtube videos. Big mistake.

Your collection shows you as having TZ. Great game if that is the one you pulled the trigger on. I haven't played it enough to rate it yet, but it sure looks appealing and was fun when I played it. Hope you enjoy it. BTW, one is how it starts. LOL

TigerLaw, I just signed up today and threw that in my collection as i was pretty certain that was going to be my pick. Then of course the doubt started to creep in...lol

After playing some emulators and watching some video's... i have to agree with everyone that I can't go wrong with either pick. I'd love to travel to Vegas and play them all.. but that's just not an option at the moment. The wife already thinks I've lost it....maybe I've lost it in the zone. HA!

One thing you may want to consider is your technical abilities. If you plan on doing your own repairs, but don't know how to use a DMM, TAF should generally require less repairs and less technical ability to repair and keep running. If you know your way around a DMM and know how to solder, then go for the game in the best shape.

I went with the Twilight Zone today... it came down to which theme I loved more. The mods available are down right cool too, thank everyone for the advise and the welcome.

TZ is my favorite game. You will love it!

TAF is pretty good too, but I think you made the right choice overall.

Enjoy and welcome!
