I just received a Star Trek Premium, my first NIB. There are a couple of spots on the playfield that look like the printer heads weren't aligned. Is this normal for Stern playfields? I can live with it. Just want to make sure it's not too far out of the norm. I love this machine, btw.

Thanks for the quick replies! Your's is definitely a bit clearer. Not sure if it's worth pursuing though.

Side by side with Cappi's.

Am I obsessing too much? Probably so.

I contacted my distributor. They were very friendly and requested pics. She said that they probably will send someone out to replace it with a populated playfield. Fingers crossed. I guess I'll be waiting to install all of these mods :/

Thanks for all of your input. I appreciate it. When I get home, I'll take the apron off and find those registration marks.

So, here's the registration mark. Not quite as bad as I was expecting. image (resized).jpegimage (resized).jpegimage (resized).pngimage (resized).png

The playfield is stamped April of 16 if that interests you.

I may have found a couple more spots. These are from the left orbit. Could I possibly bother someone for comparison shot?

Quoted from Whysnow:

you really dont need a comparison... That looks AWFUL! Seriously the worst registration on a recent Stern I have ever seen.
Have you worked out the details with your distributor? What did they say?

They say they're waiting on a reply from Stern. It is nice to send them side by side pics. I think it drives the point home.

All this being said. My God is this game fun! I just want to resolve this so I can install these mods!

Quoted from BrewinBombers:

There are not "a couple more spots". Your entire playfield is off my friend. Its simply most noticeable around the text. Do not, under any circumstances, let this slide. I don't know - nor need to know - who sold this game to you; it's not their fault, but do not let them give you anything but a new playfield or machine.
The black printing plate was twisted off of registration. It's difficult to explain how poor workmanship this is to someone who has never been in print shop, but this is basically just not doing your job.

You're right. The more I look at it the more f'd up it is. It's just more noticeable in text. Must. Breathe. Deeply.

Quoted from mcluvin:

Yeah but read the OP's original post. He can live with it. Case closed. Damned if I would.

That's hardly fair. I was a fool who thought this possibly was par for the course. Obviously I was wrong.

#91 7 years ago

If that was what their standard for printing was, I guess I would just have to roll with it. It's not. I'm not ok with it.

Quoted from mcluvin:

If pinball was my full time job, I wouldn't be reading this shi* at midnight

Fair enough. I'm frustrated. Nothing personal.

Quoted from rubberducks:

Since this is undoubtedly not a one-off occurrence, in the interests of helping both the OP and others with doubts, this is what it's supposed to look like.
N.B. The muted colours are simply due to not being able to find my angle poise lamp, and shooting this at 5-8000 ISO in very little light. This playfield is not one of the very faded ones from Stern's new supplier (as another poster has shown in another thread).
As you can see, alignment is totally fine, and nothing like the OP's mess.

You rock, ducks. Thanks!

Did this get resolved yet?
Rob

Unfortunately, no. Barely any correspondence either. Supposedly fixing all GB issues first. Who knows when they'll get to it.

Quoted from gweempose:

You would hope that the OP would have a new populated playfield by now.

Yeah...that's a big negative.

#135 7 years ago
Quoted from bhwolf:

Can you share any details? Why have they denied a claim?

Claim wasn't denied. They are just talking a long time. Distributor is saying they are fixing all GB issues before moving on to others.

Almost a year later, still no response from Stern. Any suggestions?
