You guys are scaring the heck out of me. I've got a Feb (now March) premium on order, and I'm not certain I'll even be able to know the problem exists and is not just part of the game (with the gameplay experience denigrated unbeknownst to me vs. if it worked as it's supposed to) let alone being able to fix it. I know pinball machines always need tweaks and I need to be prepared to deal with that, but for an NIB, I'm getting very nervous.

Quoted from Av8:

The stock stern balls are crap and will scratch your ramps etc.

Out of sheer curiosity, with new pinballs running about $1.50 retail, why would Stern use sub-par quality ones?

Actually, let me clarify one concern I stated earlier in the thread that wasn't really addressed.

I've only played ACDC one place -- at the Pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas. And from what I could tell, there were several issues with it (very weak cannon, etc.). Nevertheless, I thought it was still a great game and pulled the trigger on the NIB.

With little experience owning pinball machines (first one two months ago), I don't mind doing tweaks as needed to a NIB, but I'm concerned that "I don't know what I don't know." In other words, since I don't have a lot of previous exposure to the machine, I'm not going to necessarily realize that something isn't playing as it should or if something needs to be adjusted. Rather, I may just assume that it's part of the game, and potentially enjoy it incrementally less never knowing any better.

Not sure how to resolve that.

Quoted from Concretehardt:

Did we ever find out why Stern halted production on the February run of ac/dc?
I really hope they get this all figured out before they start cranking out the march run.

I've been pestering Pupo about it and he said the delayed orders would be in the March run following the Tron Pro run. Reiterated to me it was the playfields. And to be clear -- I don't think that intimates that the ones that went out were bad -- just that the ones they didn't produce were not going to be acceptable.
