Bought my first machine today. After doing some research on the most entertaining playfields I decided to buy Sterns "Meteor!".
I picked up the machine for exactly $100 dollars. It had no plug on its cord for the wall; but the older guy was not afraid to stick the raw copper wires into the wall to show me it lights up. To my surprise it actually lit up. So the first thing I do after unloading the machine is put a new plug on the cord and plug it in at my home. Fried the three amp fuse on the rectifier board. Set all the dip switches to "off" tried to get it to boot. Same thing happens, fuse blows.
Not a master electrician but I know I now need to follow the current to find the problem. Will update more as I work on it.
The main reason I bought this box was the back glass is in excellent shape and the playfield has very little wear.
If there's any of you who could provide any guidance I'd be greatful.
*should mention that the playfield lit up without the back box connected.*
