i don't know this game and unfortunately ipdb does not have the manual or schematic for MIBS. I am guessing the coil is energized to drop the balls from the animated backglass. Maybe this coil is energized until the last ball either opens or closes a switch, then the startup process moves forward? Again, I don't know this game, just tossing ideas...
