So my fire power will not start a game. Usually, this is because the ball trough does not recognize all three balls. I adjusted and cleaned the switches, but that did not help. Pulled the battery off the rottendog board and reset everything to free play, still not help.

I went into diagnostics, and sure enough switches 57 and 58 do not register. Both switches are on column 8 of the switch matrix - conclusion there is a switch matrix issue on column 8.

I took the following picture of the wiring for switches 57 and 58 - is this a hack and the cause of the problem? Note the yellow wire connecting switch 57 and 58.

Broken diode on the top left switch no?

#3 5 years ago

No, the diode is connected. It is just really short.

Reseat the 2 connectors on driver board on the right. These are the switches.

Broken for sure...

Diodes were fine. It was the IC 74HCT9114 next to J2 plug. This is the second time that chip has had a problem. I replaced it a few months back and modified the mounting bracket based on this post - https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/warning-to-rottendog-327-owners-check-it-now - but it seems it is still shorting somewhere.

About the diodes, don't they connect to the third connector on the switch and not to the column and row connectors like shown on switch 57?
