There could be a short somewhere, or a bad coil diode, or......

You might lift the playfield so it's leaning against the back box and see what coil is locking on upon power up.

If it's a bad diode, you will have to also replace the driver trans and pre-driver at the same time, before powering up again.

Can you manually operate the pop? It's not stuck is it?

If you are just shotgunning, I'd replace the coil's diode, the driver transistor (now damaged again by the coil diode) and the pre-driver.

A bad 40 pin connector will cause all sorts of craziness on those drivers.

Sometimes even locking all the coils at once.

Make SURE that both the pins and sockets of the 40 pin have been replaced. The plastic on both should be BRIGHT WHITE.

Quoted from tomdrum:

The friend who did my board work did replace all the header pins except the 40 pin. I asked about it but he said he didn't see any issues with it. He has done lots of board work for me and he's pretty meticulous.

The 40 pin is ALWAYS the first thing you do on ANY sys3-7 service call.

Every ghost in those machines is the 40 pin.

Add the 40 pin, male and females, to the GPE order, right now.
