Hey all,

Recently, my FirePower knocker has been super weak! I went ahead and replaced the Q41 driver and pre driver for that knocker hoping that would fix the issue but it did not! Could the coil just be bad? It just sort of hums and the plunger barely moves. This plunger moves freely when I move it through the coil with my finger. Any ideas? Thanks!

Quoted from frunch:

Take a resistance/ohms reading from the coil and report back.

Will do! Diode test?

Quoted from frunch:

You want to use the resistance/ohms test--it will have the omega symbol: Ω

Sure! Thanks! Will get back to ya

Ah, looks I am getting 4.4 ohms which is good

Quoted from PINTEC:

Weak coil after testing OHMs:
Connect a wire to ground, with power on, ground Q41 Tab
Coil still weak?
Ground Knocker coil Lug (brown -Blue wire side)
Good?
suspect short in harness at connectors
Reseat solenoid and cabinet plugs between head and cabinet.

Okay, sure! Will look into this, thanks!

So when firing the coil manually via a wire (I have one with miniature alligator clips), can I clip one end to the ground strap and then touch the other end to the tab of Q41?

Finally have the chance to look at this issue again! Should I replace the coil?
