Through the years I have seen game cabinet that were made out of scrap wood from other games. Just picked up this Firepower that has a strange wood on the bottom. This is definately a factory job but I can't figure out what game this wood came from...if any. Heck it may have been leftover paneling from the employee break room!

The design is "routed" in to the wood so you can feel it.

Anyone have any ideas???

Garry

It's not the first case of a game with a patterned bottom.

Some classic stern games have a brick pattern

It was likely used because it was probably cheap material that may have been a cast-off/reject, they weren't able to get enough of the regular material fast enough, and/or a combination of both.

Funny stuff. On arcades I have seen sideart wood used for a top or bottom of another game. They were very resourceful back in the day

Had several FirePowers with brick pattern.

Mine had the brick pattern. I was like wtf

That would look cool on Medusa if it was centered.

Back in the day, if they ran out of fiberboard, they would use anything they could find.

Can you imagine the outcry if Stern had some Z-Brick bottoms nowadays ????

Lenc Smith wasted almost nothing. I recall the skeleton from Killer Instinct was carefully cut out and hung on the wall at that plant.
