Hi All

Been putting my Firepower back together the last couple of nights.
Nothin major new rubbers, some LEDS and a general clean.
Boards just looked at because I thought I had an issue with the sound board - turns out speaker was the issue!!!!

I've turned the machine on a few times to show my boy the sounds of the game while reassembling/changing rubbers etc. Sound is great - just like I remembered.

Finally have it all together, start the first game and I get no sound.
It did come back on briefly after turning it on and off and putting the playfield back down (ie a new game). Maybe 5 seconds.

Any place obvious to start looking??
There's no fuse relating to the sound is there??

Welcome to the wonderful world of system 6.

To answer your specific question, yes there are two 4A slo-blow fuses located on the sound board. However, the chances are 99% that this is not your problem and even if a fuse is blown, you have to track down the reason why it blew in the first place because if you just replace it, it will likely blow again.

To insure that your sound works correctly, chances are you will need to change one or more ROMs, sockets and connectors.

For now, check your fuses, reseat your ROMs, make sure none of the pins break off and hope for the best.

Good luck!

Make sure J4 & J5 aren't loose on the soundboard (volume & speaker wires).
Check that the wires didn't get smashed by the playfield being raised & lowered?
Note... there are multiple volume controls... on the board and the remote down in the cabinet. Set them all to the middle to start with.

OK been doing some trouble shooting.

Checked connectors etc - seem fine.
Fuses all OK.

Pressing the SPEECH Test doesn't do anything but when I turn the machine on after it's been of a couple of minutes it launches into the SPEECH TEST.
I turn the machine off and back on and I'm into a game with no sound/speech.

What next??

Thanks heaps - Scott

Pull and reseat the ROMs. Check the pins on theROMs. If they're black they potentially will break off and likely need replacing along with the ROM sockets.

FIREPOWER is back in action!!!

Thanks for all the advice. The rom chips needed to be reseated.

See my previous post. Sorry to rain on your parade. That "fix" is short-lived and without changing the sockets the problem will return.
