Quoted from HighVoltage:Then when I replaced, no more free play obviously, and no way to switch it back anymore. So seems the batteries were working and holding the settings alright.
Usually if you replace the batteries with the power on, it will hold the settings.
Quoted from HighVoltage:No, although I did look at the holder, it was obviously replaced at some point, soldering is pretty messy, but no sign of corrosion anywhere.
The corrosion is sometimes on the back of the board.
But if you lost freeplay, the batteries are probably not the problem.
Quoted from HighVoltage:Do you know off hand which two terminals I need to use for system 6? I noticed all the batteries +ve are on one side.
