I just got a firepower on Monday and it seems to have an issue with lane change. The right flipper lane change does not work when the ball is in play, but it works when the ball is in the shooter lane. If I hold down the shooter lane switch after shooting the ball, lane change works every time. I tried cleaning the switch contacts but that didnt seem to help. Any thoughts?

You've got a switch matrix or maybe wiring issue. Those two switches are adjacent to each other in column 6. Check if any of the other switches in that column have one of their wires broken off, and test the diodes on all the switches in row 6.

or maybe wiring issue.

Post pics of both switches.

Here are the switches in question. I noticed the the lane change switch does not have a diode on it. Should there be a diode on the switch?

I think I answered my own question by looking at the switch matrix picture.

My mistake. Upon further investigation, I was looking at the end of stroke switch. Glad I figured that out before installing a diode.

Does the green wire on the lane still have continuity across it? Looks like it has been crushed by the playfield. Those switches are 45 and 46. Like zacaj said start checking all the wires in the column for continuity.

Here's my switch for reference.

Here is the graph for column 6 if you don't have it.

I think this is my problem. The chart shows the switches in columns 6 are all connected on one end. The green/blue wire does not continue on unless the shooter switch is closed. The 45 lane change, 47 tilt and 48 lower right stand up don't work unless the switch is down. I did get this from an operator, maybe the game is rigged.

That was it. I moved the wire so that it looks like all the other switches and it works just fine.

Congrats on the repair!

Makes you wonder what the person that was soldering on that switch was thinking....

Like I said this did come from an operator so who knows. I bet it didn't give out many free games.
