So this is the second pin that is acting up since I hosted a tournament last weekend. All of column two in the switch matrix is now out. I have checked for loose diodes and bad diodes in the column. All test okay and are well soldered. The connection at 2J2 is new and I am running a Rottendog board. The schematic shows column 2 connecting at pin 8 of 2j2 which is IC 17. What should IC 17 be doing when tested with a logic probe so I can rule it out?

No. I can do that.

I think the problem could be at the connector. Can someone post a picture of the connection wiring on 2j2? One of the wires appears to double connect and it has come loose at the second connection. From old pics I have it connection 8 appears to loop back to connection 6 at 2J2.

Here is an uploaded picture of the connector at 2j2 on the rottendog board that I took during a PF swap a few months back. The arrow points to the 2j2 connector. Note that connection 8 - the switch connection for column 2 switches that are currently out on my pin - appears to also be connected through what looks like connection 6. Currently connection 8 at 2j2 has excess wire but is not connected to connection 6. Can someone confirm that the correct wiring at 2j2? InkedIMG_3571_LI (resized).jpgInkedIMG_3571_LI (resized).jpg

Went back to basics. I have continuity from pin 8 at 2j2 to all switches on the pf so no short indicated. I have checked the diodes on the switches and the wire connections. Everything checks out okay.

Each pin at 2j2 pulses except for pin 8 which is associated with the column that is out. On the Rottendog board pin 8 connects to the socketed chip at u17. In the original firepower schematic it is IC17. The Rottendog chip is a 74hct9114n.

Is this the likely culprit of the column issue?

I think I am the victim of the Rottendog issue reported here - https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/warning-to-rottendog-327-owners-check-it-now. I have ordered a replacement for U17 from Ksarcade. Hopefully that addresses the issue.
