Fireball flipper coil burn up

Head scratcher, I wasn't there when it happened but left zipper flipper coil completely burned up as in it melted the lug plastic to oblivion. EOS was working, correct fuse value and type, contacts on flipper button separated by a good margin and working correctly. I just don't understand why this could happen especially since the flipper button contact is the only switch and was not stuck. But if it were stuck, even with the EOS working, could it heat up enough over time to completely burn up the coil?

Not wired right ? Internal short on the coil windings you couldn't see ?

Check the wires on the coil lugs. I had a wire break off the coil lug from the zipper motion. Luckily, it broke off and didnt touch anything. Maybe one came off and touched another coil lug.
