Thanks to 80spit I now have a Fire! In preparation, I've already received a new Gold CPR playfield and plastics. I'm planning to get the rails off and sent to TaylorVA so he can make a new set. It will get new switches, targets, and hopefully any other parts it needs as I dig into it.

Why a Fire! to spend the time on? I don't know either but I've always liked the theme, bell, speech, sound effects and the unusual game play. Hopefully I can add some value to others in the process. This one is complete and 100% working. Most of the buildings are there and not too badly damaged.

If anyone has any spare parts they'd wish to sell, please send me a message. I know I'm missing one metal plate over the exit of the shooter lane. I'm also hoping to find someone that has one of toyotaboy ramp brackets that isn't using them that would sell their set to me:

Sweet. Love these threads, especially when they're system 11s

You doing the cab too, or just PF?

#3 1 year ago

Thanks. Just the playfield most likely. Cabinet is fairly decent.

#4 1 year ago

Following. Definately a fun game. I wish the buildings would be reproduced!

I always enjoy what’s found inside a machine. I guess it was $2.25 a play?! And no damn Canadians per the management lol! Poor guys!

Damn Dave you didn't waste any time ripping into this one, we actually played a couple games on it 2 days ago, it played great except for the custom ball launching ramp mods lol, looking forward to your progress on this one. Fire is actually a fun pin, great audio and the bell puts it over the top

#21 1 year ago

Nice! I’ve never played this one. Looks fun!

This actually is the oldest machine I've ever owned other than Bally Flip Flops. These 11A's have connectors in the lower cabinet so I didn't even need to go into the head. That was a welcome suprise.

#23 1 year ago

The only problem sometimes seen is that the flashers will be direct soldered. No connector.

Quoted from 80spit:

Damn Dave you didn't waste any time ripping into this one, we actually played a couple games on it 2 days ago, it played great except for the custom ball launching ramp mods lol, looking forward to your progress on this one. Fire is actually a fun pin, great audio and the bell puts it over the top

Yes it plays and works great. Thanks again! The new plastics will fix those ball launches lol. I had some good air balls playing the next day!

Lamp board are mounted. Only had one dimple missing so far. Using sunlights for these.

Flippers are getting rebuilt with WPC style springs. Even the coils are already new!

Please don’t use this style rivets in pinball parts. Save that for fixing that rusted out floorboard in your 76 Matador.

New plastics to fix the “custom” jump ramps that were in there.

I’m using some old rails from AFM (Thanks mbaumle for leaving me these; they’ve come in handy!) to keep the playfield fairly straight while the original rails are on their way to Taylor for new templates and a set for me.

Started a parts order. Going with a red, orange and yellow target for each of the four 3-banks to add some color. I also have black, red and orange flipper bats to get a an idea what works best than plain old yellow.

One of the wireforms were missing. I have some stock I got from Pinrestore and quickly bent one up. I forget where I got the jig but should be easy to find. It works great for being such a simple tool.

Also started on some of the playfield parts that are ready. Usual process of countersinking, drilling the hole size of screw or post, and locking in with Ron’s kruzman kit. Makes it a no brainer process. The metal drill guide is used way more than just his kit.

Few more installs. This playfield is needing the spade posts opened up slightly as seen to 11/64”. I do like to use a washer on the spade post to prevent it from digging into the playfield. Note that it can sometimes affect plastics and what’s above it so be aware...

Some ball trough parts installed.

Star posts colors: looking at these colors for options. I have some black and florescent orange coming too. Will light these posts up. The blue I included because of the blue in the playfield. Thought it may be a good color for the top of the slings.

Leaning towards amber as first choice, orange as second and yellow as third. Thoughts? For reference on colors in second picture, from left to right: blue, yellow, red, amber, orange, and clear.

Definitely amber.

#34 1 year ago

Amber or yellow. *which are what I think are in the 3rd photo*

* Feels like yellow matches the "accent color" on the PF better
* Amber likely lights up as a warmer color to tie in the overall colors and theme

note: For *slings* near flippers, even clear is ok to max the light if you are putting comet starpost lights underneath... (then do the rest in yellow or amber)

Parts are cleaning up with nice results. This was a nice clean game so not that surprised.

Regrained ball guides and have almost all metal installed on the top side. I needed to replace 4-5 posts and had some but not enough. Few we’re buggered up and a few had some broken screws in. I save them to drill and tap out but prefer going new with a new playfield.

Need to get a Titan order in for some rings. Not sure of the sling color yet until we figure out the star post colors. Thinking clear for the top and bottom sling rings.

Some fire LED’s in a a few spots too?

I would make EVERY bulb in the entire machine a comet fire bulb! GI, inserts, backbox, coin door... All of them.

Just because I'd want to see what that would look like, and to make it a challenge. See if anyone could actually complete a game.

Thanks Marco for the crazy fast shipping. I got the order a day early so was able to tackle a few things today.

All metal posts are installed and flipper rebuild on one done. The game had new coils but were 11629’s. Have new 11630’s to replace.

Want to see what flipper bats look best. Have some black ones invoking too. Thinking black with transparent Titans.

Have new bulb holders and will staple in new braid from Pinrestore when it shows.
