The flame roller under the playfield seems to be running backwards. The flames look like they are rolling down not rolling up like the flames in the backbox ( champagne edition). Anyone else seen this before?

Quoted from patrickvc:I’m not sure. I wondered if the plug can be reversed to reverse direction
Look at it and see. Otherwise swap wires to the motor. It's a DC motor so it will run the opposite direction then.
LTG : )
Look for a place where someone has moved the wires around and reverse them. Don't cut any wires unless you have too.

Quoted from fattdirk:It's probably your resistor in backwards. Pretty common issue.
Resistor flows either way, a blocking diode maybe.

Funny, now I’ve seen it go both ways. When the drum starts sometimes it stutters before rolling normally sometimes forward sometimes in reverse
Is the motor an AC type? If so, could be that's the way it is, same as many microwave oven tray motors that can start in either direction.
I asked about this exact thing at a Sharp microwave technical course many years ago and was told by the Japanese engineer giving the lecture: "not fault, feature" (that was his exact response to my question).

I was making a joke
The wires are backwards.
