Fire! ball getting stuck at right lock - on top of plastics

I thought it was a one-off weird ball thing when it happened once. When it happened again, I think I need to alter something. But I'm not sure what.

On my Williams Fire!, the ball gets stuck in the right lock plastic, just past the hole in the corner. I am not sure what to do, The little wall is held on by a couple brackets, but those are riveted to the house plastic, so bending those might damage the plastics. If nothing else, I could put something in there to block that corner off, but I'd rather fix the problem.

Any ideas?

Without altering any of the plastics:
You can bend (carefully) the side plastic mounts inward just enough so the ball is just on the edge of the hole, a slight bump to the pin will make it drop if it does get stuck.
Requires notching the plastic:
Take a 1-1/4" rubber and place it around the side plastic, positioned so it centers on the ball. File a small notch in each end of the plastic so the rubber will rest in the notch, preventing it from slipping down over time. You may also need to bend the mounts a little using this method.
Or (requires making a screw hole in the plastic):
install a post with a rubber using a single screw into the plastic, position it carefully so as not to allow the ball to hang above it.

I always scope out the 'net for little issues like this when I'm repairing a pin just to make sure the owner will not experience these issues when they get it back home.

Thanks, sorry so long to reply, I was on vacation. I like the 'add a rubber post' idea, and might have to try that if it happens again. This time, I tried the first method, I bent the side mounts a little. Hopefully, that's all it needs for a while.
