Quoted from AJ51:

I have to decide in next two weeks if I'm getting surgery. See specialist Tuesday. Hearing you had to wait that long to play again. Man, it's been hard these 6 weeks for me. I've played it here and there when the arm was having a good day. How long before you were 100%?

Surgery was May 20th...I'm still not 100%. Brodeur ripped his biceps tendon and missed about 3-4 months of the hockey season a few years back. I wish I had that instead of the rotator.

#52 8 years ago
Quoted from labnip:

well hell....

i'm in.

You wont regret it. The only bad is the left orbit being stopped for full pass through back to the flippers. Stern working on a fix. Still a freakin blast!! The again, you could get a WPT HUO and an ELVIS HUO for the price of a NIB GoTLE

Wow. Not good still not 100%. I'm hoping the specialist doesn't say it's necessary for me. Take care hope you heal back to 100%

#54 8 years ago

It's the rotator cuff thread

I had the surgery 4 weeks ago. My GOT Premium was delivered on Tuesday. I've played a few games while keeping my arm in the sling, so I'm all hunched over the lock bar like Lyman Sheats.

I am in the premium club! Arrived on Wednesday (delayed a week due to the snow). I installed the really nice Alt Translite and speaker lights. I need to put in the shaker and connect the sub tomorrow. A strategy guide for the premium/LE would really be helpful. I am just starting to learn the basics. Great game!

#56 8 years ago

Tell me more about those speaker lights. They look great in Blue.

#57 8 years ago

Wtf? I've been having right shoulder issues the past few weeks you all GoT me freaked out now.

#58 8 years ago

I bought them from http://www.speakerlightkits.com/

You can change the color or have it rotate colors. I thought this blue matched pretty good. I also purchased the Silver Mirror with Etched Design Speaker Acrylics for GoT.

#59 8 years ago

Count me in. I have GOT LE #143.I come from Spain.

#60 8 years ago

My Premium was delivered Saturday, my first NIB.

Spent an hour setting it up and installing a shaker. Didn't wax it because the family wanted to play it right away.

I have none of the common issues people have mentioned, but now have a sticky left upper flipper.

I am completely lost on the rules and need to research them before I embarrass myself publicly.

#61 8 years ago

Should we wax right out of box ?

#62 8 years ago

I always do, just in the main areas. A little extra protection never hurt.

Does anyone else think the pop bumpers on GoT are a bit anemic? Not very sensitive or powerful. I've had a several balls simply roll right thru without a single pop.

I have not looked at these yet, and traveling this week (with brand new Premium sitting at home - argh!). I tweaked the pops in my JP with new spoons and adjusted switches - they are now crazy active and I love it! Are the adjustments on these pops similar to those on my JP?

I'd love to see something more creative as far as pop cap design. Look very plain to me. Great area to for a mod, except the I.T. dropping a ball on one all the time. Maybe shields, more (yawn) gears, or figures fighting. It almost looks like stickers put on at last minute.

#68 8 years ago

Should be able to adjust them the same way. No need for new spoons though.

Speaking of the pops. Anyone know if the RGB's in them are coded in yet? i don't recall seeing any color changing (like the Kiss pops do) when I played a LE recently. I didn't even realize it had RGB's until I read the feature list.

#69 8 years ago

GOTLE #12 on the left. Thank you Melissa and Chris. COINTAKER.COM all day long.

Late to the party as i have had it a while now.

I never really paid much attention to the pops strength. But my friend was playing it and said 1 pop wasn't working. Turned out it was just weak.

Interesting

When you light the castle shot on the mini Pf and hit it the display will say something like "house stark collected." The house's shield light isn't solid tho. What is actually happening there?

Was actually wondering that myself. Several times I completed houses but they didn't solidly light up. I'm wondering if it's sort of like Tron, where if you don't make ALL the shots, it doesn't actually fully complete it (solidly lit).

The upper playfield doesn't help you complete the mode. I think it only helps you advance the modes score. You still have to complete the mode either the lower PF shots I believe. I think if you do the Upper playfield shots during the mode, and collect the house, that's a separate side quest if you will.

Full disclosure I've played 10 games on a LE.

#75 8 years ago

I know on the upper play field that you can add extra time to the mode. I was unaware of a "side mission" up there.

I really hope Stern releases a youtube video on the rules.

You're definitely right. Was paying more attention to the dmd and it was adding time for sure from hitting the upper playfield stuff while in a mode.

I would rather PAPA put out a solid video, but I doubt we'll see one for the premium/le.

I had an odd issue tonite. After several hours of play, then a short break, my Premium was exhibiting very strange behaviour - the sound of a clashing sword was consistently playing no matter what was happening in the game. This was not familiar and terribly annoying.

I removed the glass and started a game to see if I could diagnose the issue. I quickly noticed the slightest tap with my hand on the upper or main playfield, even the cabinet, would register 30pts and play that clashing sword sound, every single tap.

I went into switch diagnostics and tapped the playfield. Switch 86 was inadvertently firing (right sling, upper playfield). A manual tap on the sling produced a 30pt score and that now annoying sound. I regapped the switch slightly with my finger as I could not get my leaf switch tool into the tight space. The switch now registers normal ball hits, but not inadvertent shocks to the playfield.

Easy enough.

I think this is pretty common. Mine did the same.

Quoted from Erik:

While fighting a house, the upper Playfield's 3 targets add time to the house's mode. Before you've hit all three targets the mini-pf left orbit will add to the houses objective. So in stark mode you will add a name to aria's hit list. After you've hit all three targets up there the left mini-pf orbit shot changes to collecting castles. So, you probably collected the stark castle, this is independent of completing the house on the main Playfield.

I don't know what collecting castles does. But it's there for future rule implementation.

#81 8 years ago

So far it seems that collecting castles is just like collecting swords. You get additional end of ball bonus. Any idea how many swords and castles can be collected?

#82 8 years ago

Swords are available after completing a house, so probably one for each. The swords unlock the next level of Playfield multiplier, so it maybe only 5

I don't really know. But I've seen the sword values range between 700 thou to 23 mill points.

Collecting two swords gets you to max multipliers on default settings. Swords light after completing a house so you can collect 7. I'm sure on the harder settings it takes more swords collections to increase the multipliers.

#84 8 years ago

Per Dwight: "Collecting castles drastically increases your end of ball bonus."

Every time I reach for the flipper buttons on my Premium, I think about how this area could wear and just look crappy over time.

The Stern side armor would surely provide all the protection needed, but I find them a bit too large and bulky looking. I had seen another much smaller variant somewhere recently, but I'm unable to locate the page now.

Sound familiar to anyone?

#87 8 years ago

Just got the call. Delivery of my LE is slated for tomm

#88 8 years ago

hello,

got my LE some weeks ago, updated to 1.23.

Is there a problem with the lighting of "Lock"at the next ball, when it became lit and then the ball right after that?

#89 8 years ago

Short of applying the Stern side armor, any suggestions to protect the flipper button area from light-duty wear and greasy fingers?

I was thinking some sort of non-adhesive (cling) material, but no clue what might work here.

Ideas?

There are clear cling protectors or mylar - pretty sure Pinball Life has them.
Also - the Lollipop side rails - also available at Pinball Life.

Just bought these. $60 bucks. pretty cheap, and they blend in great.

Lollipop side rails - that's the ticket! I had seen these but had no clue where, or what they were called. $60 = that's more like it.

Thanks!

Next up - For Premium owners:

Anyone replace the stock BLACK rubbers with something else? I'm thinking WHITE might be a good fit, maybe translucent? BLUE might be too much.

Suggestions or picture would be appreciated!

Example of blue and green throughout.

Chuck, do you recall if these rails came with screws?

No screws needed. Just use the stock hardware. Easy install. Had to lay down the head to get to the back screws, but that's about it.

I own many sterns, and this LE is one of the best they have produced in years!

I also used white behind the drop targets and grey on the upper Playfield.

Yup, I just ordered some, I'll use these until I get the stark rails.

I did translucent and also star posts in the slings with lighting underneath. I think it's a big improvement
