The inrush current makes a difference too, but 8.4 amps is good. I would say that is a good replacement. Id be more interested in why it failed.

Because I am a bull in a china closet and destroyed it while trying to get the guts out so I could chrome the housing Thank you for the extra details. Going to buy a few of them. Cheers, Craig

They are super fragile. Doesn't take much to pull a leg off.
