I am a new owner of a 1959 Gottlieb Atlas. There are a couple of the plastic inserts that appear to have been replaced over time. One of them used to say "NO" and has been replaced by one with no words and another that used to have a "10" on it got replace by one that said "100" and the guy just scratched off the other zero so it looks like junk.

I have searched around quite a bit and I have not seen any with printing on them.....are there any sources out there for these type of parts?

Thanks.

Inserts do not come with printing on them. They are added after the fact when the playfield artwork is painted.

However, you can make your own withing waterside decals and a laser printer.

For some games you can find the insert decals ready to install.

Williams/Bally games do. I haven't seen any for Gottlieb games, especially for EMs.

Do you put anything over the waterslide's to protect them after you install? I bought some waterslide paper but have not used any yet.

Cool! Thanks for the tip on the water slide paper! This whole restoration is becoming quite addictive.

Pinball restoration is a lot of fun and the end result is very satisfying. I just finished my first pinball restore and have 4 more in line. I will be starting a xenon next. I bet the playfield on an EM is much easier to work on compared to a SS machine. Its all the wires and mechs on the inside that are a nightmare to me. Good luck on the restore. If you have to actually replace the whole insert, pinball resource has a good selection of them. Read Vid's guide on playfield restoration, there is good info on inserts. His guide was my classroom when I was reading up for my restoration.

I work on computers and electronics all day at work. There is something satisfying about doing the EM stuff rather than SS for me. I wish I could have a few more in the pipeline. I started with video games and I have 8 uprights and 1 cocktail....room is becoming an issue lol. When the kids go to college I keep threatening to turn their rooms in my arcade.

Thanks on the Vid tip. I had already read an article (might be the same guy) talking about the same technique with the hair dryer and socket. I attached a picture of mine and you can see what happens if you don't take the time and cut the finish and just pop it out. They are both really chipped around the edges.....and you can see why they have to go!
