Quoted from TheFamilyArcade:Exactly. Do it for 5 years, let alone 10 or 20 and we’ll talk. EHoH is in the Pinside top ten for god sake. ACDC was the flavor of the year for like 2 years. Now it’s an after thought. SM was considered an all time great once (still is to me), but after a decade of brand new pin enthusiasts entering the hobby and buying all the new games, the ratings are skewed.
Which is fine. We all know, deep down, what‘s good and what has staying power.
Tell you what, I am stunned at how good XMEN LE is. So much hate for so long, but now finished and mostly forgotten, the games shines. Been playing it nonstop lately. Can’t believe how much I like it.
I agree that it’s difficult to fairly judge how good a game is strictly by looking at the ranking. EHoH is a nice try by Stern to capture the Elvira magic. The house toy is pretty cool. I’m getting a HoH soon to try it at home. But ranked a top 10 or 12 pin of all time? That’s difficult to believe. We simply don’t have a large enough sample of ratings and reviews to really know where that pin, or JP2 will end up. BM66 was getting destroyed and was ranked like 150, along with GOTG at one point. Both are respected pins now and ranked much better. SM and TWD and even Aerosmith were ranked very high, in the teens. All have settled into more appropriate rankings. JP2 is a fun game and tremendous shooter, and has tight but makeable shots. But it doesn’t tick as many boxes as LOTR does for me, personally. LOTR plays long, but who has made it to Valinor? I only see the pf art as a weakness. Sound, theme, shots, code, toys...it’s almost just right.
I agree X-Men LE is a solid pin now. I had a Magneto and really liked it. Great shot design by Borg. One of his best.
