Okay everyone - I'm cancelling this round's vote. We're starting all over... Haha!
<-- (For the few that may need this)

If only you had closed the poll down. Probably for the best that you didn't. You may have woke up in the morning with a horse head in bed next to you.

#102 4 years ago

All four are set at similar scores right now so it is very tight. Its good to see three decades of pin history represented showing just how good the choice has been over the years.

I wouldn't really know how Pinsiders feel about this bracket voting until I take it away from them. Haha!

#104 4 years ago

For anyone who didnt know, there is a consultation bracket for the first round losers. Nice match up going between CFTBL and Whirlwind.

Try playing JP with the alternate soundtrack

Surprised I'm just now learning about this. Where can I get the rom?

#106 4 years ago

Wow, I just broke an actual tie between MM & AFM. Can’t go wrong either way.

This is a much closer call to me than JP vs LOTR. Both are all-time greats. Both are fun/funny games. If I could only pick one to own I'd pick MM...by a hair. Destroying the castle should get old...should...shouldn't it?

I thought most were already included in this battle of

Wow! MM and AFM tied on 164.

And here we are now with MM and AFM tied at 221. Gonna be a nailbiter!

I'm still disappointed IMDN lost to Williams IJ!

Maiden is so superior, it could have made it to the final four!

Inconceivable!

Yeah, but it would be fun to put the up against one another and cosider which is worse. I find Avengers as bad if not worse than thunderturds.

Going to rule 31B, section F, sub-section T - "If these is a tie, the higher seed moves on."

I really don’t get having MM and AFM. They are almost exactly the same game. I mean they are too closely related to really have a serious comparison.

I say replace AFM with FT

#121 4 years ago

Of the worst titles, I think full throttle takes it. It’s actually a fairly fun game that plays super fast for WB.

Heighway pinball could be the most underrated developer of all time. Alien is still my fav game.

#122 4 years ago

Pinside is crushing it on this thread from a marketing standpoint.

All I see are sale ads for LOTR (with everyone's favorite - "Tasteful" mods), or mods for JP.

Where is some love for AFM or MM? Or better yet... where is Pinstadium?

I'm with ya. Much prefer Maiden of IJ, but that is just personal preference. Not saying IJ is bad, just prefer the way IMDN plays more.

IJ all day over maiden. ALL day.

IJ is blah. Owned it for years. Big fan layout, wall of posts, mode start that needs lots of work to make reliable, multiball that never gets harder to start so you can ride it all day, drops that bounce the ball into the left outlane (requiring a big metal shield.. oh wait, still happening, let's give a ballsaver for every shot to the center drops) .. POA that also is a PITA to get working 100%. At least one of the three video modes is good.

Good theme integration but very average game play-wise.

It sucked in the arcade, and it sucks even more in a home environment. Almost, but not quite as bad as totan.

Looks like LoTR spent too much knocking off PoTC. Come on lotr. Best super jackpot call out ever.

In the worst title competition, I think the worst should "win." We vote for the worst. You'd want Full Throttle to lose. I'd want Beatles to lose.

Yeah but that’s not nearly as interesting. Winner is thunderbirds.

Much more interesting to talk about titles that really don’t belong in the bottom.

Wow... AFM and MM are neck and neck.

Impressively tight voting here in the Final Four.
Congrats to KME for hanging tough against the giants.
I will wager he has two more victories in him!

#134 4 years ago
Quoted from PtownPin:

I'd love to know your top 4-5 games of all time

I have owned many games in these polls, but most went down the road some time ago.

I love every game I now own and that spans from the mid 50s all the way into the 2000s.

As far as modern games that these polls seem to represent, for me, the game doesn't have to be highly rated especially since I obviously came from a different background than those that made the pinside top 100 what it is, but it has to have attitude, or something that I can relate to, look good enough to fit in with my theory, and be fun to play. So, of this particular era of games mine are-

T-2
Dirty Harry
Judge Dredd
No Fear and most recently
High Roller Casino

And I might soon be picking up another Nascar. I know, I have very expensive tastes.

Nice....I've only played T-2 and Judge Dredd on your list....they were both fun pins

And they both have the attitude I need. Not many do.

High Roller Casino turns out to be a diamond in the rough with a gambling theme, cool music, a fully loaded playfield with a roulette wheel and a slot machine, and rules by the master himself, Keefer. Didn't know it at first, but it is indeed a keeper.

This is very true. Hugely underrated pin.

Quoted from m00nmuppet:

This is very true. Hugely underrated pin.

A lot of games get highly rated because of exposure I'd imagine, and I don't think there are many of these out there. I find it more satisfying and fun to play than say LOTR or TSPP, two more massed produced games from around the same time.

One thing is for sure, the playfield is solid as a rock as most from that time seem to be. No cratering, chipping, or peeling. None of that.

24 hours left to vote!

#140 4 years ago

1/2 of the final pretty much decided....the other one looks to go to the wire....AGAIN!!! Speaks volumes about the real top 3 (MM, AFM, TZ).....

Finally bourbon night tomorrow (been avoiding it lately due to work), but believe the timing is very good.....

#141 4 years ago

A quick FYI - once voting ends tomorrow night, I will get the next round up and running afterward as quickly as I can. Voting in the championship round will end Monday night at 10pm EST/7pm PST.

Also, I'm looking for a little feedback from Pinsiders: For the championship round, should I hide the poll results and publish them Monday night when the poll closes? My thought is, if it is a potential blowout, see that over the next three days would take the fun out of it. Also, a good mystery always drives speculation.

Thoughts?

#142 4 years ago

I’m really intrigued by No Fear making your Top 5. What about it makes it so highly rated in your collection?

Definitely keep them hidden. Will be a long fun weekend reading all the game bashing in the posts.

#146 4 years ago

Also have a poll for 3rd place with the two losers from this round?

Another vote for keeping the tally hidden...adds more suspense and interest in case the #'s start to lean one way or the other. Should be plenty of bashing, etc. but the top vote-getter wins period.

Great idea!!!!

This! Easy to do, and doesn’t take anything away from the championship.

The total adrenaline rush it gives me each time I play it. Super fast with a rocking soundtrack and sports I can relate too.

Even the video mode gets me pumped jumping the dirt tracks at places like Anaheim Stadium.

Best game from 1995 for me. Steve Ritchie was very proud of it, and it is one of my favorites of his.

I hadn't played one for years, then a location by my house swapped out their games and they got a No Fear. What an ass kicker! Fast and fun, and a machine that definitely has that "one more game" appeal. A definite sleeper of the DMD era, I'd add one to my home if one popped up around here for the prices I've seen them go for elsewhere.
