Why would you want the video mode to put the player in the role of the ghost when the entire rest of the game's concept revolves around the player battling ghosts? Doesn't make thematic sense in my opinion.

It is the equivalent of putting the player in the role of the Nazis trying to shoot Indy, rather than the other way around.

Quoted from solarvalue:

See my post above for one way to integrate the mode which makes thematic sense.
Picture this:
You have an image on the DMD of bubble-gum girl with her mobile phone. Zoom in to the phone while the other members of the team are calling out "Hey, quit messing around", etc. Then, image of the game starting up "Flippy Ghost, player 1", bubble-gum girl proceeds to play the game while the others heckle her. When she loses the game she could complain "You distracted me!" or if the player skips the mode she could say "Hey, what did you do that for?" while one of the other team members says "I hate video!"
So the player isn't the ghost, the player is bubble-gum girl playing a game with a ghost in it on her mobile phone.

In that context, I agree that it could work. Nicely done!
