Quoted from desertT1:

Those handle bar things look pretty handy.

Somebody needs to make them. Putting into and out of a vehicle. Give some lift to put on a cart when pulling out.

Who ever thought it up is a genius !

LTG : )

Quoted from frolic:

Whoa! What are those and where can i get them? My fingers would thank me.

Those were customer Ken's own design... I told him I'd buy a couple sets if he made them. Pure simple genius!

#753 9 years ago

great stuff Chuck and Ben! Really cool seeing photos of these being built and going out the door!

#754 9 years ago

I want those!! The massive splinters (calling some of these splinters are kind of an understatement, maybe more like wooden daggers) ive pulled out of my hands after moving some rougher pins so could be avoided with these!!

Thank ya' H... we really do appreciate everyone who supports us in the small company world. It's only about a million times harder than I dreamed it would be.

And yeah... I'll talk to customer Ken. He could sell a pile of those simple beauties!

#756 9 years ago

Keep fighting the good fight, Chuck!

#757 9 years ago

Glad to see Ken picking one of those up. It will be a great compliment to his already stellar collection. Doesn't surprise me he made those handles. After seeing his work room I'm pretty sure he could make anything!

Can't wait to get my AMH.

I guess I should look into making more if there is enough interest.

Depending on final cost these seem like a no brainer purchase for many of us. Anybody flat-hauling pins moving them in and out of vehicles can see the utility.

I would buy them. The fastest way to move pins up & down stairs for us has always been "brute force" which is lifting the whole thing by 2 guys, and carrying it with our fingers on the little wood lip of the bottom of the cabinet. My fingers giving out is the problem. So I'd love to try a set of 4 of these on both sides of the machine.

#763 9 years ago

I don't want to hijack Ben's or Charlie's post. PM me if interested and I will work on a BOM and costs.

The build quality of AMH is above and beyond what you would expect.

Camp Spooky is in for 2 sets... great job Ken! And if ya' find yourself closer to Benton, you're hired sir!

After a rough day yesterday... this pretty much gave me a 180 flip this morning.

Thank you Ken, for the patience & the support. We're doing all we can to make a great product. It never has been nor will it ever be easy, but we keep finding ways to make the games better.

We're far from perfect and we still have things we need to improve on... but we will.

agreed!

Ken, please share as much as you can! It will only help AMH. I have seen and played it enough to know it is the real deal, but many people have not had an opportunity to really get the details of the game.

I am a big believer that as soon as more people get to touch this game then they will want one.

Consider me curious too! Watching a few gameplay clips here and there is fine, getting real world feedback regarding reliability and playability is key! And so far I have not seen much in regards to that, so looking forwards to it!

If you make AoD it will be my first NIB. Well, Spooky might be, if you keep selling them.

Some Ideas for themes (some already mentioned)

The Munsters - But only if the character art is B&W, I hate the colorized versions, must include Dragula car and Rob Zombie Dragula multiball as well as a monster under the staircase (that was munsters, right?)

Gears of War, not spooky but I think it fits a horror theme and M$ is looking for money these days

Lawnmower Man

Of course Goonies.

Scary Movie

Scream

Alice Cooper

DOOM (the game, not the movie)

Creepshow

Steven King - The Shining, The Stand etc

Beetlejuice

Psycho

American Werewolf in London

Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory - still creeps me out.

Tremors with Kevin Bacon VO

How about a Corpse Bride pin. The movie is great!

#771 9 years ago

Oh God. Army of Darkness would be an amazing pin

#772 9 years ago

I have never seen a thread go on and off track often. Can't believe this hasn't derailed yet. Maybe we should start a Spooky Pinball theme suggestion thread?

It's a requirement of a Ben Heck thread, Should be a movie quote any minute now.

Unfortunately H.R. Giger died.

Let's put it this way, I'm pushing for Army of Darkness big time, just as Chuck how relentless I am!

Has there ever been something that you set your mind to building and DIDN'T build?

I may as well go start an unofficial preorder list right now.

Just make the prototype something he can't resist...

#779 9 years ago

I'd be down for an AoD. All time best campy horror series. It would have to have Evil Dead 2 incorporated as well, just so you could put that moldy witch popping up out of the cellar somewhere in the game.

#780 9 years ago

I know non pinball people that would throw money at an Army of Darkness pin. Ben, if your looking for a show of support for your push for AoD, "You have my axe" as they say in AoD!

#781 9 years ago

"and my Steel"

#782 9 years ago

"I'll bend my bow to your will, sir!"

Agree on adding in some Evil Dead 2 elements!

#783 9 years ago

I think a Toxic Avenger pin would be awesome!

#784 9 years ago

I've said it before and I'll say it again, when Charlie told me he was going to build pinball machines in Bumfuck WI, the first thing I told him was to make damn sure they didn't look like they were built in someone's garage.

They do NOT look like they were made in someone's garage. Charlie and his "staff" are doing one hell of a nice job.

#785 9 years ago

Ben is relentless... I can verify this 100%.

Mr. Kelly..., you need to learn how to spell Benton, WI correctly! And why is "staff" in parenthesis? Oh yeah... forgot, you've met the minions. They're still wondering why the hell I let the cranky old dude in the shop, and how Deb hasn't killed you yet.

I have only got about 15 games on AMH. The more I play the more I like it. The kick out on the right side can be brutal if your not paying attention. Tomorrow I will get more time to play and take notes.
As for the quality of the build I will post pics as I get time to do so. The cabinet decals top notch. The way they are applied, I haven't seen before. No over lap, butt joint or gap. They edge folded into the joint of cabinet. Also the cabinet corner joints are not plain lap joints. Miter joints, this makes a much more cleaner corner.

More to come tomorrow.

I played more today trying to learn the rules. The skill shot target area changes at random: basement or O-R-B inlanes or pop bumpers. So it's not the same pull on the shooter pull rod. The display and call out will tell witch one to shoot for.

Here is a set of apron cards from Spooky Pinball.

I have been getting pm’s to write a review on the game play. I have been real busy at work and haven’t been able to put many play’s on the new game as much as I would like to. I will share my impressions of the game so far.
The skill shot I like because it takes skill to hit what ever is being called out, such as Basement, O-R-B or pop bumpers. When you hit the skill shot it doesn’t show what you scored. I don’t know if the skill shot award increases with each ball?
The flipper strength feels right and very smooth and responsive. Just as the slings. Some may feel the ball is a little bouncy, I like it the way it is. Just change the white rubbers to black if you want to slow it down. My game came very well tuned. The orbits are smooth and follow thru to the flippers. No magnet issues. The elevator and ghost move very smooth. The kick out on the right side, you have to pay attention and use the right flipper to hit the ball or it goes SDTM much like on TZ if you didn’t tweak the scoop.
The shots very, some easy and some not so. The jump ramp shot, hit right you make the shot. If your off a little and rub the ramp the ball slows down and doesn’t make the jump.
So make the shot right you get rewarded, sloppy and you drop the ball. The targets in front of the ghost work just AFM and SM.
The audio is very very good. If you SS style of humor you will like AMH.
The dots, are above average. The green display color is a little dull in color. I believe this is because of a filter used to hide the LED array block lines to give the LED display a cleaner look. I wonder if the display could be retro fitted with a LCD type like from ColorDMD Displays?
The game play is subjective to the individual. I like rules, the action and the A/V. It’s hard to compare it to another game because it’s not a copy or a mix of half this and half that.
For actual game play there are several videos out for you to watch. The instruction cards give you a very good idea of the goals. The build is different from what you may be use to in a good way. Solid plywood cabinet, even the bottom is plywood. A very nice sound system that doesn’t need to up graded. Correct me if I am wrong, this is the first mass produced pinball machine with 3D printed parts? This means you can make your very own spare parts. This also makes it easy to customize it if you wish. I have already started printing out mods for mine.
Yes I am impressed with this game on several levels. I like the play………FUN. The call outs and the SFX sounds. The innovation applied to the construction of the game.
I hope this answers some of the questions that have been asked.

nice review Ken!

now when can we come play ?

Is the software for Spooky Pinball open source, can you directly modify the code?

Thanks Ken.

I had another spooky theme idea.

Theme would be cryptids (had to look that up)

Gameplay would involve traveling the world trying to find "Creatures of Legend" such as:

Bigfoot,
Lock Ness Monster
Chupacabra
Mermaid
Dragon
Yeti
and of course,
Jackalope

As well as any others on this list.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cryptids

As modes are beaten, a 3D printed creature revels itself hidden in the playfield, when all modes are beat wizard mode would be trying to save your captured creatures from the greedy sweaty palms of the promoter and owner of the traveling sideshow who want's to exploit the creatures for his own personal gain.

or something like that..

#797 9 years ago

Lock Ness could be very cool! I was excited a few years back when stern hinted at JAWS. That would be amazing!

Wow... KT had this idea right as we were launching the company. Great minds think alike apparently!

Did you also have the shady sideshow creature collector? If so then that would be pretty weird.
