Just picked up this family guy and when I turn it on it seems to be stuck in the boot mode. The speakers click and it sounds like it's trying to boot but won't kick over. Any ideas

It looks like when the speakers "pop" the 5v led goes on and off at the same time on the circuit board in the picture

On second glance it is the L18 LED

I reseated everything and it seems to be an issue with the upper playfield I got into test and all the upper playfield switches where throwing errors so I disabled it and was able to play a game. Any thoughts on how to fix the upper playfield issue?

Will do. I will take then upper playfield off tomorrow. Fuse F6 seems to also not be working probably related.

Quoted from Bowlingpin:

I had the same problem along with many others when I got a family guy a few months ago.. Does it give you the check 12v error fuses 12 + 13 when the speaker popping stops?
When I spoke with Chaz from stern tech support he mentioned removing resister 86 from the cpu(it's a very small mounted component so be careful). My family guy has been trouble free since.

Yes it eventually blows the fuses and says check 12V and fuses 12 and 13. how the heck do i remove resister 86?
thanks for the response

I spoke with tech support at stern and they told me to tighten up the "Heat Shrink" in the upper Left corner of the I/O board. I am not sure what that means. Can anyone clarify?
