LMAO I forgot about longtime RGP know it all pinballjim. I wonder if he's still in the hobby...He really nailed it with this post 14 years ago!

Oh yeah, without a doubt. Anyone that tells you otherwise is
delusional.

Take a look at Ms. PacMan prices 3-5 years ago.

Then take a look at them today. Maybe 40%.

Pinball is no different. As the people that are interested in them
start dying off, the prices will bottom out to the "cool, neat weird
thing to have in the house as a conversation piece" which seems to be
around $500 today.

Frankly, with about 100 exceptions, the majority of pinball prices are
already hovering around that $500 mark.

That’s funny this is how I see Levi.

Pinball is not going anywhere soon, but if you don’t think it’s on a downward trend you’re just wrong. A healthy resell market sure helps to keep the prices up and people buying new pinball machines.

Are you saying the bubble has already burst?!?!?!?!

Damn slayed by yet another Nostradamus in a 20-year string of them.

Quoted from jgentry:

The moment it does the 900 people that have started these threads since pinside began will race to make CrazyLevi eat some crow.

Pinside will be out of business most likely at the point of such a catastrophic collapse in the market so it'll have to be back on RGP.

Quoted from fosaisu:

Just keep posting this every six months. Eventually you'll be correct, even if it takes a decade or two. And in the meantime you'll continue to cheese off Levi, giving everyone the pleasure of watching him light you up. A classic win-win.

I don't know what to do at this point besides copy and paste the 20 years of price bubbles threads.

The price bubble posters have far more stamina than I do. I'm losing my will to defend so I think they just may win this war of attrition.

Or...I guess the bubble could just burst already? History hasn't been kind to that expectation so far though.

Quoted from delt31:

pretty crazy you pulled this all together.....and quickly.

Nah that was term paper project from several price bubble threads ago. Lets just say productivity was fairly low on that day.

Quoted from gdonovan:

Let me get this straight-
1) Economy is good, pin prices climb up.
2) Economy is bad, pin prices go up as well?
.

Were you around for the previous recession?

Pin prices didn't continue to climb, but they didn't drop either. For the most part people just held on to their stuff and rode it out.

Pinball people are incredibly stubborn, vindictive and petty when it comes to selling games - will take a lot more than a little ole recession to make a serious dent in the used pin market. The idea that a silly little 2 year recession is suddenly gonna destroy pin prices is just a long-running fantasy of pinheads, like winning the lottery, or discovering a stash of NIB Indiana Jones in some old lady's garage.
