Who are those 42 votes saying that everything is in a downward trend???

Speak up!!!

#102 4 years ago

Should we go ahead and close this thread, basically the "you momma so fat" and the "downward trend" people are outvoting the pinball lives people. So.. either our moms are fat, or pinball is on a downward trend.
Thanks

Whoa whoa whoa, don't bring OUR moms into this. You're the own asking, YOU'RE the one we're voting on!

Quoted from Rondogg:

Pinball prices usually follow the price fluctuations of the car hobby. Keep an eye on those and you will see where we're going.

(sorry Levi, couldn't help myself)

The only car sales that have peaked are ones that won't fit pinballs

Economy is good, several companies are making product and more people are being exposed to pins making them potential buyers.

I peaked this morning.

Maybe a better discussion would be about how the clearcoat chipping and pooling/bubbling is going to affect resale prices longterm.

Well I agree. I didn't have the money to do it few years ago. Now I am buying my third pin in less than a year.

It will have an effect. I,m in the camp of not wanting a pin with a bad PF period. Not even at a deep discount. If there are enough people who feel like I do it’s going to hurt a lot of owners of these pins with bad PF’s.

Do down votes contribute towards store credit for the pinside marketplace?

Quoted from greenhornet:

more telling would be how many of those 58K that joined during the last 8 years are still around.

My firend if your glass is always half empty, you should just add more Vodka.
Pins are not an investment, just in case you have not figured that out. They are fun, beautiful and a real piece of American art.
There are plenty of places to play if you wanna play without buying one too btw.

Wait, they make pinballs for public and commercial use now

Oh yeah how so? I have never lost money on a pin... never. I even made money on a NIB pin. I guess I am just lucky...

Weird.

On almost every pinball flyer I have looked at they say something along the lines of "Great return on your investment" Or "Watch the money come rolling on in"

Are they lying to us? Should we try candy machines instead?

You should stop hanging out with the tambourine man!

Now Sir, that was so brilliant, witty and funny!

#121 4 years ago

I played the NIB I just bought, and now it looks like it's been played! Do I get a new play field shipped for free?

Only if it’s populated

That narrows it down, lol

Numbers 44 and 45 WILL be here this afternoon, chuckle.

And not the other two I was looking at! When opportunity knocks..

Quoted from woody76:

if you are always worried about the value of a game or losing money then there is no way to enjoy them. I would rather own none than worry about value in my games all the time.

Yeah ive doing equal trades only nowadays so i dont have to worry about cash

Quoted from woody76:

the hipsters will save pinball

Studio apartments can only hold so many games....

#128 4 years ago

In our area the hipsters are saving pinball. One quarter at a time.

Can you do a gofundme for a game of pinball??

#130 4 years ago

Definitely not peaked! Pinburgh sold 1000 spots in minutes or less. Hopefully prices will cool off a bit but interest is still going up, imo.

I think a lot of you have the wrong idea what hipster means. The term goes way back to the 1940s I believe.

Don’t look now, o-din, but if you’ve ever snuck a flask into a show, you may be an OG hipster.

Just hard to think of original "hipster" like pre-beatnik even these days.

Now all I hear is snowflake that doesn't know they are snowflake yet...

#134 4 years ago

Do you guys get paid every time you say “snowflake?”

Surely you have more to offer us?

#135 4 years ago

Hipsters around her are younger people out and about and hang out in breweries. And like to drop money in pinball machines.

Looks like I've always been one and still am.

#136 4 years ago

I wasn't ever called a hipster

I'm happy to use a different word than snowflake....open to suggestions to try out

Me neither. But I have heard "cut your hair, you damn hippy!"

Me kind of recently. Lol.

Plus, hair (well some that can still be long...) apparently means drugs still from some recent innuendos to me locally...

#139 4 years ago

With all the playfield issues on new games the peak might be very soon.

It all depends on how you want to qualify peaking. Some guy put up a Taxi on Facebook. It was a little underpriced but it was gone in 4 minutes. For the right pin, at the "right" price, people are wanting them.

#141 4 years ago

It may have peaked for me personally. I am wanting to just get 7 high quality games and lock them down. Maybe take a break from constantly changing it up and just dig deep into fewer games. Some Stern, some JJP and some classic B/W. Balance and depth, variations in gameplay and the classic themes that speak to me...
