Suppose you are designing your own machine,
What must every pinball machine have
Some things I can think of
- pop bumpers
- flippers (duh)
- sling shot bumpers
- multi ball mode

"At least two flippers and at least one ball..."

(drops mic.)
(picks up mic again and says, "o-din said balls, I'd like to make that "ball(s), thank you.")
Great single-ball games: (there are more)
* Gorgar
* Seawitch
Great games without slingshots (there are more)
* Black Hole (main level)
* Space Station
Great games without pop bumpers: (there are more)
* Solar Fire
* Grand Lizard
I tend to prefer games that have an actual ball lock. Although I enjoyed AC\DC, the lack of a physical ball lock drove me nuts (maybe that is why it is now gone).

Yes,read the topic headline and thought that,at least a bank of 3.
Also spinners.Spinners with a cool sound effect that reward the player with a timed shot. ie - Ngg and Fathom.

Absolutely NOT! Have enough crap in my life with IP addresses as it is. Wi-Fi and data charges screamin'.
However, no thumbs down because you saved it with the 'beer on tap' comment.
To me, there's nothing more satisfying than a dead on spinner shot.
If only Met would have a mode that used the spinners....

Lol. Thumbs away. I won't be offended.
Re:IP - Tell that to the score taker/conferrer at any local league night. The ones around here get pretty big. It's a lot of work copying all those numbers. IP address, NFC, RFID... Any of those will work. Also, I feel the high scores here on pinside mean nothing. They are totally game specific. Most would agree I think.
Tilt mechanism(s).

No Fear: No pops.

Beer on tap.

Everything about how easy it is to work on a Pin2k playfield and/or remove it completely from the cabinet - I wish I could retro fit every single game with those features (full length rails, able to simply unplug full wiring harness, etc, etc).

WOZ has this as well. And you can unplug and pull the box'o'boards right out of the cabinet too.
Coils and relays and bells and bonus countdowns and sparks flying in the cab and spinners whizzing away and....
Edit: ok, I got carried away. No FLYING sparks.
Quoted from KenLayton:Score reels
Score Motor
Relays
Chimes or bells
Coin Rejectors
Coin rejector lock out coils
Stepper units
Plungers that manually lift the ball into the shooter lane

"Sir, we've detected lockednlit is playing pinball again..."
"Launch the secret spy drones! With flipper skills that poor he must be an operative bent on world domination!"
"But sir, we've just received intelligence of supposed covert terrorist fm band transmissions believed to pertain to imminent counter-activity..."
"You listen to me, private. Lockednlit is not to be underestimated. Throughout the years he has recorded high scores on several Golden Tees and has one hellava mudder on the Derby Owners Club at the Little Compton Dave and Busters! We have to secure his secret strategy before the annual NSA pinball championships!"
"But sir, he's just posted all that to pinside."
