Just such a big fan.....The wife and I have been watching the Marathon showing..."Heads" up if you forgot its on at 9 EST.

Something new? Find out in an Hour!

#4 8 years ago

I hear it often, from those that read the comics, about the differences, and the depth in the Comics...
I am sure that is true, but Having only grown up with Romero's Movies....Ill enjoy what I can.

It certainly has had its changes through the seasons!

My wife just yelled at me that she cant hear The Walking Dead, because I am Playing The Walking Dead!

What Irony!.....Wait....Fix that.... What Ironing!...shes finishing up....

#6 8 years ago

Its strange how you mention it, but perhaps they do it on purpose, as they mentioned the Season Premiere at 90 minutes.
So rather then an even show by show budget, they throw in a few low cost episodes.
But, you are right, and I never gave it much thought. They do lure you back.....

I do think Andrew Lincoln should get an Emmy, amazing acting sometimes.

....one more game......

Quoted from pinmanguy:

It's worth checking out the omnibus edition imo. It has more of a "anyone can die" kind of feel to it and makes it more suspenseful.

Thank you for the recommendation!

#14 8 years ago

Your right, but Ill give it a shot.....I hear Z Nation will be back too!
Best Zombie scene....on Speed and Viagra!

#17 8 years ago

I enjoyed it...a bit more hokey and tongue in cheek,
like Doc hanging in an elevator shaft inches from a Zombie, firing up, and getting the zombie stoned!
At least they are fast, like in the first season of TWD.

Weird, and sometimes better....worth a try if you have the time.....Strain I havent watched.

Getting into it....I liked this episode...Needs time to get to the chaos.
I guess this series finale would be the opening episode of TWD, so they will be pulling us through the series.
Getting better!

2 weeks later
#92 8 years ago

It was weird tonight....it had its moments, the riots, driving by the hospital.
But it kinda fell flat after they got home. Uneven acting, and the son needs a better haircut or a bite.
Ill go forward still, but the Family and I, are thrilled with Z Nation....theres a crowd! Murphy is something else!

1 week later
#144 8 years ago

Not thrilled at all...but Ill watch the last 2...who knows....maybe all new characters....

#147 8 years ago
Quoted from Jumping-Box:

a homeless transvestite Jesus freak who believe killing walkers will hurt the environment.

I have that on a bumper sticker!

Good idea, the show, just not executed well on many levels so far.
Friday night Z Nation makes me happy, other then Kyle from Road Trip, being at the North Pole....
Doc and Murphy are Great Characters,

#175 8 years ago

I actually enjoyed last night.

Well, Kinda. I had to look past the bad acting, and the way the plot line played out, but the premise was right, and this episode or next, may be the best of what we will see.
In failing to establish any empathy for any of the characters, they will now end the season essentially bringing them to the beginning
of TWD. If we dont care about them, its the same show, isnt it?

I had to suspend how they portrayed the military, and replace it with what could have happened, but I think the writing point
was simply to share quiet town ignorant to whats outside. Military at the stage of Collapse, Chaos coming to the characters.

Got it. Now, do I care?

At least this week Z nation had Blasters! A New Zombie created from those that died from Radiation Exposure,
and Z-weed. Herb made from planting in.........

Worth a shot!

2 weeks later
#253 8 years ago

I was bothered by this too.

First, taking them only 20 miles, 5 hours, they would mostly come back.

So the family through out ideas from killing them slowly through the funnel,
walking them to the top and off, going splat.
Grabbing some dozers and plowing around or pushing debri into the quarry.
Flooding, then setting on fire so only their heads burned.
Flooding, waiting for winter, then with just the heads frozen above ice, do a killer zamboni.

Somehow, a parade out seemed the last thing to do..but still loved it.

Cheese Wheel on Z nation was awesome!

#262 8 years ago

Have we seen an episode where burning the head is enough to stop them from being able to bite, or have they pretty much shown, that this "wont work"?

I cant imagine that an intense fire wont turn them to goo?

but hey, how can we debate a "show"?.....Damn Zombies!

Title changed.

2 weeks later
#363 8 years ago

True...they should be a walking maggot colony!

I like in Z nation, they have had zombie, Dogs, Camels, Goats, and wild animals....tongue in cheek.

All I know is this all is inspiration to battle Zombies on my Pin, with renewed passion!

#435 8 years ago

Nail Biting!...Amazing episode!

#453 8 years ago

I am enjoying them....times do change, and I think some of the astute opinions shared here,
pointed that out to me.
If we said "Aliens" in the past, it was little green men. Now, its refugees and building a wall.
Conspiracy by Government.....old news...

The last episode was a political statement, with Suicide Bombing opinions shared on both sides.
I enjoyed the "attempt", but prefer the creature or garbage man episode.

Certainly bringing in 2 younger look alikes, was "novel".

Like anything else, times change, and Im not sure about the writing, acting or if Chris Carter and all have
the dark passion they had the first time around.

I hope its renewed, and I hope they find plot lines and writing to grab a new audience.

#456 8 years ago

Damn, dont take pain meds and make posts.....sorry about that

#460 8 years ago

I can ramble on worse!.....Oxy and a beer, and ill be permanently banned for life!
...and my wife agrees! Everyday she tries to hit "thumbs down", "ignore", or "ban", at home.
Lucky that only works on the web!

Sooo....what about the airplane scene for the opener/trailer of Fear.....

#477 8 years ago

On the talking dead, I believe they said,
This was a first time director?

2 weeks later
#493 8 years ago

Still absorbing, nail-biting, and a great hour of TV on a Sunday Night!

Fear making be gaining some steam....

#502 8 years ago

The reversal of position...Carol and Maggie being told "they are the bad guys", along
with the introspective views of Carol, her Maternal Instincts, made brilliant writing
for me in this episode.
An emotional rollercoaster ride that succeeded...adding "we are all Negan" to the mix.

#504 8 years ago

Oh, I hope not...but good call.

Does she die in the comics?

1 week later
#513 8 years ago

I couldnt agree more. Negan/Villian, needs to counter the Personal issues, to avoid becoming a Zombie Soap Opera.
Even allowing a new "hero", that lasts, to offset the "villian" would allow a fresh take on perspective.
Sure, we care about our gang of survivors, but where early on it was about finding and keeping a safe place, but also what was important to new characters.....what did Herschel want, what did the governor want....
We saw this last night with what the Doctor wanted, until she received a new body piercing. We see that Eugene wants
his independence, Morgan, a safe room. Carol???? I enjoyed when they met others that were in need of medicine, or had other goals or needs. That pursuit, something new, along with an antagonist, is what to me, makes the suspense from interaction real to me.
I felt this with Terminus, Gov, and Herschel, and a bit here in the last 2 seasons, but find the killing off to be maybe a bit too soon.

It does look, however, that Fear the walking dead, may be drastically improved, and catch my attention better in the 2nd season, by the previews.

#550 8 years ago
Quoted from Wickerman2:

maybe the virus should evolve

Try "Z-Nation"...oh boy do they evolve!

Sarcastic, tongue-cheek sometimes, version of TWD!

Even a mutated Messiah Zombie Baby was born in a Manger!

#552 8 years ago

Thanks for indulging me....youll either love it or hate it after a few episodes....They Grow Z weed....Weed grown in composting Zombies!
...and Blasters!

#621 8 years ago

Those are trailers for Fear the Walking Dead, which starts season 2 April 10th.

Regarding Comic Spoilers, how about we just all agree not to post, "What happens next in the comics"
and agree after an episode, its OK to discuss what happened.

#658 8 years ago

Negan can last at least 2 seasons, by the way the Talking Dead appeared to me.

With a completely submissive role on the Gang work?

What a bizarre direction to throw them into again.

Darryl was shot in the shoulder?
Maggie is sick as hell with the Baby
Carol has 3 Bullet Wounds, looking like shes heading to the Doctor.

I did wonder where the Rocket launcher went.

I can see how Negan can benefit by having small communities pay half, to keep
his gang fed. And they provide the muscle, keeping all guns.....like the wolves had knifes,
or the hilltop has spears.

Maybe they will all go back to Alexandria, and live happily ever after...nah!

I think its Eugene, and they start making bullets and zip guns, gang up with other settlements for an all out war.
This is a guess....I dont read the comics.

Anyone else try getting into zNation?
I've watched maybe 2 or 3 episodes... not quite hooked.

Love it! It gets better, campier, and ruthless.....Damn Fun!

#736 8 years ago

Having a bad night, my friend? I thought it was better then last week....but left feeling we will see a season on a boat going place to place.

#740 8 years ago

You are right, the characters are still weak, and its way time for the son to go.

In writing the show, It pains that they forget we "know whats next"
So floaters are cool, but for how long?

Do we care if all the characters go?

#761 8 years ago

You are right John, I cared more about the female lead in the talking dead then in the show.
Does anyone know if on dedicated show boards the masses are also apathetic to the characters?

1 week later
#773 7 years ago

Oh yeah, They will beat the boat to Mexico, and shred the son as zombies!

Im not sure what I saw last night....radical Character changes....seems forced with no Empathy from here.

2 weeks later
#835 7 years ago

Sure, its a soap opera...we want to identify and empathize with the characters.
We want to feel, and decide, would we do the "same".....open a door, take Lizzie out, kill our loved ones.

When the writing suffers as well as the rest, and we dont empathize, I find myself rooting for the Zombies, as in FTWD.
I havent related to any character, and the emotions have gone already to several seasons of TWD.

If in FTWD, the characters became figures through production, we cared about, I think it would be different.

I felt when they started this new show, as others have mentioned, the focus would be up until say the season ending 1 of TWD.

More of the struggle and decay of society, as its met with this Global changing event. Sure, this has been done too, and we
are backi to a small group, interacting with others, with Zombies sprinkled in to appease the masses that enjoy them.

I just wanted to "feel" more for the characters in the new show.

For TWD itself, I think many will be glued to the opening episode. Im hoping for writing changes in our characters, and new feelings to surface.
People "Break" and "Snap"....I can feel the un glueing of Carol.

But who gets whacked, how does Negan and this action affect the group in the next season...Im ready!

FTWD will be left on, as not much else for background noise, but the whole show, failed to grab me as even Z nation did.

Perhaps, there is only so much Zombies we can handle, and this too, will diminish over time....

2 months later
#845 7 years ago

I hope, as they are promoting, that it turns a corner this season......

2 weeks later
#867 7 years ago

You may be right...TWD, could lose alot this season, if "believability" and Empathy for the characters wains.

Im excited that Z Nation comes back in 2 weeks....sorry, its just so freaking campy at times....laugh and cringe!

1 week later
#888 7 years ago

WTF!

I think the writers are assuming the Public cares about these less than cardboard characters!

I was out, so my wife and I watched Fridays 2 hour Z nation premiere!

Baby Zombie Lucy is back, Mold infested glow in the dark zombies, with brains growing outside their skull.
Cool boy who grew up in the apocalypse, talks to crows and eats raw snake, a bad guy that does a perfect job as a new antagonist. Breast feeding Zombie babies, Zombies with metal helmets on chains, lead by a whip, suspense, and a cliff hanger in a way for next week.

If you havent watched before, give it a shot, the characters have full flavor, tounge in cheek humor scattered,
and a developing new story this season. Gotta love Baby Zombie Lucy!

#891 7 years ago

They have had Zombies who were turned again from a Nuclear Blast.
They only eat faces, but can run super fast! They were called blasters!

Also, last season, Zombies morphed with plants, and Pot grown in Zombie compost......
Z weed!

Cheese wheel gets to me with a laugh. and it looks from previews, that they have a snowball of zombies rolling down a hill....so funny!

Also, in this season, the Zombies, or a group start using weapons!

No slow, stupid, wait till you hear them growl zombies.....one cant simply outrun them, or do the now insanely overused, blood on the face.....

#894 7 years ago
Quoted from Taxman:

Agreed, Z- nation blows this show away. It is ridiculous, but fun. The only thing that bugged me is if that guys wanted the scientist so bad he would not have sent in such a deadly cast of characters such and those berserker guys with helmets and chain. They would have killed indiscriminately.
The painting the compound red I thought was a tribute to High Plains Drifter. But a total waste of time.

I feel that because Z nation is tongue in Cheek, ie The manger scene with Zombie Camels and Zombie 3 Wise men, or Smoking a Joint with a Zombie, I can suspend most of the "bugs".

FTWD tries to be real, as does TWD, somehow with Z nation, I laugh more than I cringe or care.

#896 7 years ago

Looked like his guts were eaten out, but not by the crows.....like theyw ere standing vigil because he talked with them and fed them....

But heck, Cassandra came back, and they are more like Zombie McGyvers!

Sure he could come back, and i hope so...what a great cast addition...especially since he learned the sling, and eats anything!

Perhaps you can catch the holy birth. It was satire on Jesus manger birth, North Star, Animals, Zombies bearing gifts, Music, etc....but in this case a 1/4 Zombie Baby!

Gotta love Murphy!!!

So sorry to get excited, I just find the comical cast of characters here so endearing!

Our family enjoys it more than TWD!

1 week later
#900 7 years ago

Didnt gain anything from thsi weeks episode.....No fun, no zombies, no entertainment.
I understand from interviews where some of those behind this show want to go, and that it is about the characters, but it seems to me that most watchers dont care.
With no character empathy, its hard to respond to this direction the show is moving, IMO.

#904 7 years ago
Quoted from Taxman:

my girlfriend watching murder porn on the ID channel figuring out the best way to dispose of my body.

Your lady too?!?!

My wife is outlining this on the board on the fridge door!

#906 7 years ago

No Problem....I cant handle that guy, and the ancient alien stuff, even though I followed von daniken in the 70's.

Maybe another thread on that, as I have family involved in that stuff.

But like TWD, My wife will watch that and the murder shows, but mostly and the joy comes from evil abusive husband, wife strikes and kills him, and gets away with it!

Knowing my health, shes just waiting...but yeah, makes me wonder about her plans sometimes, and the new set of large sharp knives she came home with.....

If you find me stuffed and dismembered inside a pin.....I said it here first!

I had the chance to catch up on Z Nation, and boy did that have its ups and downs!

Really enjoyed Last Fridays episode, and in TV Gore Category a Brain scene that rivaled TWD vertical face slice
this week.

We make jokes around here that the Walking Dead group should meet the Z nation group in an episode, or even a
spoof spliced where they see each other in the woods....hopefully someone shares this madness!!

Did a search and found this:

I believe you are correct about Dwight.

The quirky insanity of Negan, is a Surprise to me.

Kinda the projection is Negans a nice guy...keeping order, and society out of fear.
He personifies Lucille as the evil side inside himself.
At this stage, its certainly very entertaining, and as an actor, with script and direction,
a great character.

The use of music, in isolation, Dwights ex?...It was just enough to keep me on edge, without
pushing me away. Something I was afraid of, that the whole show would turn "dark".

Negans community, is certainly an interesting creation.

Z Nation this week, had to have an election spoof, and a character steals the Presidential Limo of Bill Clinton
from the Little Rock Museum, and declares himself President, while "campaigning" in front of a small town of 50.

A competitor to his election comes, and they have a debate, although cut a bit short by Zombies.

One candidate wants to build a Wall across the middle of the state to keep Zombies out, the other wants to dig Giant holes
with criminals as bait, to keep the Zombies away!

Tongue and cheek, with the Election, and always a "wince" coming while I watch.
Even the Towns interaction on the candidates, the absurdity, is a Spoof on what we have seen the last few months in Politics.

Enjoying Both...but dont even care when commercials for FTWD come on. No Characters to endear, no writing, and low budget Zombies, make Sharknado series better than FTWD!

#980 7 years ago

I think that scene, and the music, for this show, was Brilliant Television!

#998 7 years ago

The set up is the 3 communities, and specifically their leaders. Do you think?

Rick, isnt one any more, and I am intrigued to see where they go this season.

#1003 7 years ago

I played it randomly all last night, pissing my wife off!

It actually affected her from the show! New Phobia to add to her list.....

#1004 7 years ago
Quoted from taz:

Anyone know what the various letters stand for on some people's shirts? They gave Daryl an 'A' and the guys who add walkers to the fence and take off their head canisters wore 'F'
It seems to be some sort of underling grading system, or maybe newbies, kind of like pledges.

Maybe you start with an A and lose Points to become an "F".

I wasnt sure if that area was a "walk of shame", "training ground", or part of a "security moat", like long chained dogs, so they could be distracted to clump together for a breach.

#1021 7 years ago

It bothered me that they werent up on the tower with the Bazooka...I believe they had a few rounds.
Between that. and firepower at the gate, no brainer.
I applaud Negan coming early, catching them off guard, and collecting the weapons....smart move.

His character, I hope, will develop more. I like what I see...is he bad? Is he good? How Big is his militia?

#1038 7 years ago

I believe all of the above is why we enjoy Z Nation as much.

Theres a hybrid human, that can bite and control some of the zombies. Murphy.
The zombies themselves mutate. so far maybe 6-8 different types, slow, smart, blasters,
Vaccinations being made.....first batch was grown in Z weed!

They just got power to Spokane.
China got involved.
Unknown Rich bad guys
Brain eating regular people
Zombie hybrid babies
Spiked bats that electrocute as well.

A farce, a scare, silly, wonderful, cringeworthy, but the show is showing evolution and progress of characters, zombies, and environment.

We havent cared about zombies in TWD I think since the quarry Horde.

I do enjoy all the quality acting and character development, but maybe its time for the zombies to mutate, and be a threat
again......just a thought....

1 week later
#1045 7 years ago

Its Enjoyable, but havent had a reason to care.

I need more progress. I hope they dont spend 2-3 seasons on Negan.
I enjoy his character, and his version of Savior Utopia, but I dont care.

Maybe its me, but without the empathy, Im becoming disconnected.

Perhaps Ill care about the tiger?

Z Nation is filling my need. As bad as it is, they are creating a vaccine, restored electricity and setting
up a new society in Spokane, and theres Lucy!!, and a new family up at the Frozen North.

I look forward to this show now, more than TWD...

#1055 7 years ago

I feel because TWD is so character focused, Im losing my Empathy.

When the goal, apparently right now, is we have been introduced to all these communities,
and the writers have done a darryl, a carol, a rick, a tara, and someone they will tie these all together,
sounds either like a long road or a short payoff.
I dont mind deviant episodes from a plot line, but I wonder if the writers are expecting too much from the viewers. ie, if you are a darryl fan....how long do you wait to say "Day 2" or "10" of captivity.

Z Nation wins again this week for me. Off Topic, hysterical.....3 Women, in a castle seduce doc.
One has a bejewel gun, and they keep zombies like cats/house pets, all bejewel stapled to their head and face.
The show makes me laugh, go "WTF" and get the scared empathy for the characters, but not to the depth
TWD writers are taking me.

Its like, wheres the Tiger now...? Dont know, may not see for another season? Why bother with the stunt?
Or the brainwashing. Do I assume Darryl has easy street every day?
Is Carl getting Laid?

#1058 7 years ago

I have not yet watched GOT ever. Its reserved for my Hospital Stay Marathon!

I just dont know who to focus on, so the sand zombies won in last nights episode.

Quoted from Taxman:

No, (from the Hilltop story arc with Maggie) he is in the back of the Savior's truck with Jesus (hey, that's funny).

I thought something happened after the skate-a-long.

1 week later
#1133 7 years ago

I thought he had plenty of time with the assault rifle in the back of the truck.

I wouldnt know if Negan would have had a chance to raise his Arm, and block the Barbed wire on the leather Jacket....

Loved it though.....Then tuned in Westworld!

#1139 7 years ago

Campy is what makes it fun....not for everyone, but at least there are changes in society and zombies.

With no disrespect intended for the Christmas Holiday, but in the spirit of "How Campy can you get?"

Heres the Nativity Scene from Z Nation, note the 3 Wise Zombies, and.....

Or A Zombie getting Stoned!

1 week later
#1208 7 years ago

Almost all fans of the show I chat with, this includes Thailand, China, and Europe, say the exact thing.
I dont visit a dedicated TWD site, but its gotta be there too.

2 shows, and an audience hungry to relate.
The cast of characters on TWD, for 7 seasons, has our empathy, and gave us a taste in season 1.
I havent met anyone, that didnt want fear to focus only on the first few months, as to "what happened" and the struggle of societal decay. We want this because we can relate to..."what if this happened"
Sadly, decisions were made to care about characters more, and no one does.
The zombies are lame, and we dont care either.

Maybe a "lightbulb" will go on somewhere, at some executive office, and they will hear their audience.

I watched the episode again, this time with me wife who missed it.
I find so many subtle "stuff", from the Lady escorting Eugene, to the
masses of "workers" in Negans world.
Dwights House, the personal items on the wall....remembering this is still in the
Georgia area....It watches different the second time.

I usually never watch this show twice.

Quoted from aobrien5:

Apparently their heads are so soft they can just walk it through their skull now. Seems like the Apocalypse is almost over.

You have a point. The Bodies are melting, as in some bacteria or other is slowly digesting them....

Another couple years left.....

#1332 7 years ago

After they finish with Negan....the obvious conclusion, Id love to see the show take a big turn.

Back to the city, Mutations/changes/answers/problems with the Zombies as they claw back.

They have our empathy for the characters that are left, lets let them struggle with zombies again as opposed to slice and dice.

Just my 2 cents.

Sunday Night Late TV was always a Sweet Slot of time for me....The last Bastion of a weekend for me, before Monday Morning Work.
Disney, and Wild Kingdom growing up, to X-files, and now, TWD.

Last nights episode shows how good they can get, to a point of a Final Episode.....The Series seems to Pack 2-3 Episodes these days with the extra budgeting.

I cant imagine not watching, but after Negan, I need to see them shake this up a bit.

Its not that I want more Zombies, ( I want better Zombies!) its more like we should expect 1-2 characters to die in the next 2 Episodes...Formula Series Scripting.

I can absorb more, and I want more, and just like in Pinball when we brainstorm new games, Mods, and Playfield tricks, there are tons of great ideas for story line development out there, along with the comics.

While this question is specifically about the Comics, which I have not read, and we have No comic book spoilers as a respectful thread request, can someone who is watching and know the comics tell me based on where we are now, how close are we to the comic story?
90% 75%?
I dont mean counting who died, or who is injured as being weighed heavy, more about the direction....

In other words...would you recommend someone pick up the comic book storyline and enjoy the TV show more, or be frustrated that the Comics tell the story better....

Remember no details, no spoilers, please.

Thanks,

#1379 7 years ago

Love the show, and thanks for answering my question.

I just didnt know if things like Ezekiel and the Tiger, and the other communities were interacting more or less as we are seeing.

I have a joy in Z nation, because the Zombies evolve, and a bit more humor, so in seeing where the season was going, I didnt know how close it was to the comic line....

I do now.

Thanks!!!

#1400 7 years ago

All True, but I can manage an additional Plot line, along with the Saviors.

It becomes mundane, INO, when we no longer "Fear" any Zombie attacks.
I think the management of the quarry did that....(maybe its full again, and they can send them
as the front line to Negan?)

But I wish to feel that way again, and I can only think of plot lines, that mutate zombies, so they
can start taking out new characters introduced.

We lost 3 main characters this year, and havent really replaced them.

I really did think it was the end of Coral...

#1410 7 years ago

She has the lead in the new Star Trek......

#1442 7 years ago

Time to wrap up this plot line, add new characters, lose a bunch, and move the show away from Enclaves, Alexandria, and the battle with Negan.

Reboot, and regrow.......IMO......

I agree, the season started off very well, and ended, "mildly entertaining"

After seeing the camp, a copter shot down, the dark side of the old man,
and knowing they set up this location in a remote Valley of Mexico,
I was expecting more than Cowboys vs Indians.

It seems like the major story line board meetings had lots of ideas, characters
and venues, but when moved down the line, the scripting and direction diluted
it.

So much Potential....

Im hoping Sundays episode will "erase" the silliness of the thousands of rounds gone nowhere....bothered me
as lame writing, unless theres a purpose, we dont know...not likely...

#1512 6 years ago
Quoted from Wickerman2:

He reminds me of Sarah Palin when he talks for some reason...that affected cadence to his speech or something. I think he is terrible. They should have a Mexican standoff and wipeout the entire cast. Start fresh! That would be original.

Or a grand turn with a new environment, plot, etc.
Im just happy Z nation is back on...even sillier, but they do take Zombies to the next level.

Just a terrible opening of a season....gun battles that are really poor.

#1534 6 years ago
Quoted from Taxman:

Kind of funny. The Tiger can tell the good from the bad but Jesus can't

Dont get me started!

Thought the same thing!

#1551 6 years ago
Quoted from Fytr:

Yeah, and why aren't there any late model cars abandoned anywhere. The last time I saw a car on the show that didn't look like it was 15 years old when the zombie apocolypse hit was back when they drove around in that lame Hyundai for a few seasons...

Find some hummers...what happened to the Tank?

#1555 6 years ago
Quoted from guyincognito:

Go somewhere below freezing. Watch the zombies freeze to death without parkas and toques.

Z Nation.

I wish they would take 1 aspect from this show. Zombies change.

They get radiated, and are fast.
The ones at a pharm factory got into speed and viagra.
Stronger ones that dont die so easily.
They even composted zombies and grew Z weed.

More, better zombies, characters coming and dying.....the irst couple seasons.

#1558 6 years ago
Quoted from gweempose:

I've never seen Z Nation. Is it any good? I always assumed it was just a low budget, crappy TWD ripoff.

The first season and a half was a riot, IMO.....Tongue and cheek humor over Zombies, Like getting them stoned,
or Zombies having Sex, because they got Viagra.

Worth watching an episode or two is all, its not for everyone.

#1560 6 years ago

Id say its what the Orville did to Star Trek, but not Seth McFarland writing.

#1603 6 years ago

I agree. Ezekiel did not have a strong enough back story to accept his character as we saw, IMHO.
Gregory has such a diverse personality, I would hope they develop him into more prominent story.
Not much Carl this year, thats OK.
But Negan has become a one of a kind. I dont know if I want his character dead, or to be held in unknown status.

Sure would love if they did that with the Governor....Him and Negan would have been a nice battle of Evils.

1 week later
#1637 6 years ago

Sounds like a misunderstanding.

Now, I have no idea why all the walkers were dead, that Rick saw at the end....any ideas?

#1704 6 years ago

Coral will hide it, get captured by Negan, and turn at the right time to bite Negan...maybe

#1708 6 years ago

They may have just run out of ideas...Coral just turning and getting mercy killed, just seems too weak

Either he survives, or takes someone important out..

I'm happier with Z nation...

Quoted from bigduke6:

Its sad to see the show tanking. Watch the first episode again, it is still amazing tv. Its the show runners, not the actors. To prove it watch Godless on Netflix. The girl that played the Doc last season is fantastic on this show. They can only do so much with TERRIBLE writing on TWD now.

Its like they have become complacent with their success!

Fresh Zombie writing is needed....Fearing Zombies, empathy for Survival of main characters, is what drove the show.
Now, its seems like a Myopic view of Zombie induced Testosterone leadership.
Maggie, had a position after Glenn, to rise to much more, had they written her character better.
Ezekiel, has become a caricature.
Morgan, has evoked no emotional writing, except when forced.
Garbage people, have nothing, other than 1 weird leader.
Michonne has been underwritten.
Only Negan has some meat, and we only see pieces at times.
His empathy towards Carls Speech began to show, but was yanked away.

Like the Governor.....developing his character and seeing his daughter, gave us empathy.
I would have enjoyed more Negan, in his struggles....

I dont need to see Rick redeveloped every season.

Anyway, letting loose....its still good TV compared to many things on Sunday Night, but
I no longer fear Zombies, and have little character empathy.

Spoilers, for me, can ruin so much.
Take a pin, STTNG, I waited 3 years to find a deal. Then when its delivered, the tech, walks through every mode tripping all hits to the end.
Ruined the game for me, same in a movie or TV show.....I want the surprise of discovery.

I honestly thought they were going to have him get better at the end. I kept quoting Monty Python. "I'd like to go for a walk now!"

Funny, I kept thinking of this.....

Do you think Ricks grief will make him go Nuclear in the next few episodes....??

#1803 6 years ago
Quoted from frolic:

The problem isn't characters, like Rick or Shane, it's the writing of those characters.
I suspect a Shane led TWD would be in as big a mess at this stage.
The show is also extremely nihilistic. There is no "good" future for anyone or any character. There is no end game. There is nothing except dog eat dog. That formula isn't holding up.

I agree...its Time to change the "Formula"...the show needs our gang to move on, perhaps back in to a city environment and a "cause".
The Cause of survival against zombies, I think ended with the Quarry pit story, and the survival against rival towns and leaders has run its course. IMO.

Quoted from Wickerman2:

If you hate show after show after show after show, why watch? I would bail out. Life is too short and there's plenty of great things to do in life...whether that be TV shows or other things. Seriously, the way some of you guys talk you must be masochists. OR, take a break and then binge the show in a couple years and it won't be so painful. I hated this show in the Rick's wife soap opera phase so I took a break for a couple seasons, then burned through all those after I heard it took a turn in another direction.

Kinda weird when some say 14% ++++ believe a Zombie apocalypse is a real possibility.
Lots of "Anger" and "hate" out there for almost everything....from my chair, I see it now as the mountains of stress at work, and the need to escape.
Turning on most TV has become polarized, sadly.

Quoted from turbo20lbs:

Did anyone miss Carl on Sunday?

Nope, But had they wanted to "gorify" his death, Negan doing so in a gruesome way would have distraught viewers, and
a better "Mad" revenge Mode from Rick and Gang.

#1859 6 years ago

Good episode! Not fond of Georgie pulling up like a Mary Kay rep, but Simon made the night!

#1879 6 years ago

I still dont know why Negan got so excited over Zombie guts, and twirling Lucille in it?

As Simon was criticizing after the battle just had, would flinging Zombie guts over the wall really bother them?

were they modified?

Gotta wait on Negan.

Any guess on the Helicopter and relationship to Jadis?.......Military? Whole new storyline coming?

#1996 6 years ago

For me, I need to see the show evolve, as others have mentioned.
If it stays small, and only internal conflict, I fear that it will have doomed itself into a soap opera roll.

We need to fear Zombies again....they need to evolve...maybe they learn to run, or as in other shows, get radiated, or hooked on meth.
We need the environment to evolve.....the water slide quick pic in Fear, is interesting, but better if zombies are going down the chutes...(sarcasm)
Bring in DC, cures, mutations, more threats, hope, and characters...treat the show like its season 3.

Maggie vs Rick? eh.....

#2001 6 years ago

I was hoping for an ending with an epic battle....Hilltop and Alexandria destroyed, and "Our Gang" Air-lifted, or Truck removed by an unknown Military
Faction. New Location, Urban environment, different battles etc....a reboot.
I really dont want another walk in the woods, 10 seconds of snarling noise, and a stick through the eye.

Just so used to Zombies behavior, and for me that conflict....Man vs Zombie vs Societal decay, was the core premise.

If we end up with another colorful enemy, like Shane, the Governor, and Negan .....were all great...... I fear, the walking dead, will die. (see what I did there?)

#2006 6 years ago

After watching a video, "The 10 reasons people believe the Earth is Flat", one reason is we walk in a straight line, that proves the Earth is flat.
(I guess we couldnt walk straight on a round earth) Since Zombies never walk in a straight line, they prove the earth is round.
See what retirement does?

#2026 6 years ago

Yes, they showed Morgan and Crew as Present Day for a few minutes at the end of the show.
Whats happening to the Vultures appears to be a flashback...???
Did I get that right?

#2043 6 years ago

Z Nation helps me like TWD.

#2053 5 years ago

Awesome episode! If you havent caught it, start last week, and give it a shot....No idea where they will go with this story line, which is something that had been missing from TWD.

Really good episode to me! Love the beginning!

Preview for TWD looks amazing.....new direction of show......

#2099 5 years ago

I agree. Alicia is a poor character.
They do need more than the "lost person" mass narrative, and John making the scrabble set stood out.
Somehow, Im just expecting their survival story to be more gritty than TWD, and they need new characters
and a more rabid environment for that.

I hear Z nation has another season?

#2105 5 years ago

I feel this season will turn....Grimes is leaving, someone has a helicopter, and it appears
they have heard the critics about stale story.
Will it succeed or die? I hope they will truly advance and alter the direction.

Im more excited about Z Nation which has Zombies talking, and arguing back!

4 weeks later
#2150 5 years ago

I wouldnt disagree for a moment about contrived story line, but wonder if we have reached the limit
of Zombies with this group of writers.
I had hoped this season would bring a new direction, but seems solely to set up Ricks demise on Sunday.
Waiting to develop "Whats next", the Helicopter, ....something....seems to be the last 5 minutes in the season Finale.
Ill watch, Ill enjoy to a degree, but we leave caring more about the Zombies, than our cast of characters.

Im Enjoying Z nation again this season, The Zombie Virus has mutated again.
There are now Zombies that talk. Depending on the degree of infection, They can be Normal, to outright
Nasty, but stay calm when fed biscuits with a small amount of Brains.
In trying to create a "New Merica", they had a vote, but split between humans, and the dead...from a glimpse of a future back to Chaos.

I enjoy hearing the Zombie "Perspective" on Politics.

Anyway...the end is coming....who knows...Any Guesses on the Helicopter?

#2160 5 years ago

Judith Grimes....The New BadASS!

#2172 5 years ago

Previews....both TWD and Z Nation have Talkers

#2207 5 years ago

Just try the last episode on demand of Z nation, to see how Zombies and Interaction is created for the home screen.....I would love TWD to do this....It seems they went down a softer "Family" role.

#2214 5 years ago

I guess for some, who are understandably unhappy, they should stop watching....

#2279 5 years ago

For TWD to succeed, we have to care, and we have to be afraid.
If we dont care about the characters, we dont care if they are in Peril or they die.
If we are saturated with Zombies, and we arent scared, they might as well be vicious chickens.

It feels like a slow moving trainwreck, with scraps of enjoyment, but Im addicted, happy, and it fills Sunday Night.

Perhaps it has run its course. But asking why Logic is suspended in a Fantasy TV show,
seems strange.

Horrific Ending.....Disturbing.....

Quoted from LOTR_breath:

Alpha didn't have a mask on. She scalped the dead girls head and wore the scalp like a wig. She had a ton of make-up on. You could see in a later scene that she still had some of the make-up on.

Samantha Morton is one Bad Ass Actress in playing Alpha!

Quoted from Deaconblooze:

My wife and I have gotten really good at calling when a character is gonna die. Ooo, a one-off character with a little extra little scene in an attempt to make you care about them? dead.
We watch both Walking Dead and Talking Dead. The Exec Producer was on last night. Everyone pats themselves on the back at every opportunity.. but she annoyed me further when she revealed some comic spoilers that have implications into next season. Avoid that if you hate spoilers as much as I do.
Last night's episode highlights what southerners think winter is like, which was pretty funny.
Where are they anyway? Are they in DC? Georgia? How long after the fair did that apocalyptic snow storm occur?

Alexandria is Alexandria VA, Where Blizzards happen every 6-7 years.
So a Bit of a Stretch in the timeline....

Really great! and I love the newspaper hanging that stated, "Corona Virus that mutated caused the dead to come alive!"

1 year later
#2405 2 years ago

Indeed, while characters may have developed, the societal structure and enemy antagonism has been repetitive.
We All Cared, and emphasized with survival, until Zombie guts became the immunity.
I would have preferred a Zombie Rot perfume, and a more advancing journey.
I simply became immune, to the horror, and the fighting...like endless arrows, or wipe some guts and then fight.

But, Ill watch to the end, Like Oak Island....even if its Background Noise.
