I had that. I ended up resoldering the wire running to the post and swapped out the center front slo-blo fuse for good measure. Problem solved.

I'm not sure about the phantom slam tilts assuming all is well with your PB.

The captive ball lights were way too bright for the plastic overlay back in the day and that piece often got warped because of the heat. Operators often swapped out those bulbs or just pulled a couple and messed around in the general area. It's not too far from the demon post wiring. Brittle dried out/exposed wiring could be an issue in that area.
