The title says it all. What say you?
Wild Turkey .
voted spinners, spinners on EMs are awesome ! Love the sound of the score reels cranking when you hit a solid spinner shot.
Gotta love bustin' loops......nothing like smacking an orbit 4 or 5 times in a row as the ball comes around faster and faster each time!
Tequila
My favourite are Targets like the hobbit beasts.
Anything that pops up to hit that's not always there.
What's a vari-target?
Shooting a combo so smoothly, it's smoother than James Bond covered in olive oil slipping between satin sheets.
-----Tequila! yes indeed! --------
Drop Targets, especially when they need to be hit in order, or in pairs.
Quoted from n49th:Vari-targets were found in several EMs. The harder you hit the target, the greater the point value.
RBION is the only modern table I can think of having this feature. Really gratifying when you slam the target for max value.
Sounds neat never experienced that type of shot.
If Hobbit beasts are what I like what do I vote for? Drops?
I know the single drops on CC and GB both fall into the same "not always there" scenario and I love those in the same way..
Yea...voted drops now.
Sweeping a bank of drop targets: Space Shuttle, Meteor, and etc.
I also like the swinging target--a Steve Kordek specialty. My fave em designer.
After that I hafta get more specific:
The lit spinner on Space Mission.
The Ferris Wheel on Cyclone, especially when you've really built up the bonus there. The weird shot, the music... It's just so satisfying.
Also on Cyclone: When you sneak one in after Drac has said "Bleaeah!" but before the target resets. In yer face Drac!
Sorry, don't mean to derail the thread into specific shots...
Something pretty sweet about backhanding a tough shot, finishing a bank of drop targets is nice too.
First to vote stand ups!!! I just love the way the ball bounces right off em! Ball keeps Rollin, game keeps goin!
Bad Cats has a vari-target (Fish Bone-Us)
I just love ripping a spinner with a firm shot, my favourite one is on Fish Tales.
Quoted from n49th:RBION is the only modern table I can think of having this feature. Really gratifying when you slam the target for max value.
The vari-target in RBION is a cool shot, but doesn't add score based on how hard you hit the target. It is either hit hard enough to expose the hole and allow the ball to drop in to start mode or it isn't and the ball is rejected.
Quoted from Jeekayjay:I know the single drops on CC and GB both fall into the same "not always there" scenario and I love those in the same way..
You'd love the mini-playfield on GOT.
Why is it that ramps are leading the poll, yet the vast majority of comments are in favour of spinners or drop targets? Are ramps the 'I like them but don't know why' option? Or a donkey vote???
Oh, that's right. I recall the hole behind the RBION vari-target, but somehow thought it awarded variable points as well.
Classic drop targets for me, especially when they guard yet another shot (think 8-ball and multiplier targets on EBD).
Honorable mention goes to warp speed loops, as others have mentioned (TOM, I500 come to mind). Thrilling!
The magnet save on Goldeneye. Blows my mind every time. No idea why they didn't use it on more machines. Just too cool.
#1 Lit spinners that sound awesome / different when they are lit - eg. Black Knight. Spinners with lame or terrible sounds (eg. RBION) not so much.
#2 long throw / difficult captive balls that you have to really nail hard - eg. IJ!
Stubby stern ones that are right in front of the flippers (eg. Metallica), not so much.
