How bout Charles Durning? He played a lot of cops but had a couple of meaty villainous roles...harvester of frog legs Doc Hopper from the Muppet Movie, and total evil bastard mailman Otis Hazelrigg in Dark Night of the Scarecrow. Honorable mention as the Governor of Texas for shutting down the Best Little Whorehouse.

All his life has he looked away… to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph. Adventure. Heh. Excitement. Heh. A Jedi craves not these things. You are reckless.”

Nice try on the prequels George but sometimes you gotta quit while you’re ahead.
Quoted from Rezdog:But 15 years later Hearts of Darkness shows us who may have been the real villain on the Apocalypse Now set.

I hear "Hearts of Darkness" is better than "Apocalypse Now". Have to catch it one day.
I wouldn't say the director of "The Exorcist" is a villain director but William Friedkin did some unorthodox things to get better reactions. He would fire a gun with blanks during certain scenes while filming. One scene in particular is when Father Karras is listing back to his recording of the demon and a phone rings. You can see how terrified he is there. Also, the real life priest that reads Karras his last rights was slapped in the face right before saying "Action!" to get him to cry and react.

Clancy Brown was such a bully in that movie. It was gratifying to see him with his new radio LOL. He's always played a great villain.

My favorite part was when Sean Penn served him up some nice cold RC colas!

Villian trifecta!
My mother took me to Silence of The Lambs my 8th grade year. Mom didn’t realize how eerie it was going to be. We both came out of the theater creeped out. Fast forward 30 years later, sometimes mom will pick up the phone and I will say “Hellllllo Clarice.....”

Yeah heard him a few years ago on a podcast. Good listen but doesn’t seem like a good guy. Was surprised when I learned this...
Seemed very proud of himself for pulling this off. Guess he should be cause it’s a hell of a car chase.

That was filmmaking in the 70s.. and Friedkin did film the scenes himself, so if they crashed... also, don’t forget that’s a “True” Hollywood story ...
Quoted from Rdoyle1978:That was filmmaking in the 70s.
And when filmmaking was at its best.

Rhodes Steel and Rickles

PARTICULARLY Rhodes and Steel. MAN I hated those guys when I was a kid. Greg Nicotero is also in that movie briefly as a very hippie-looking soldier in the "meeting" scene. LOL Joe Pilato was a hilarious, curmudgeonly dude who was quick with a joke, a smoke and a photo pose.
