    Quoted from o-din:

Sure it wasn't Nanny and the Professor? Dear Prudence,....[quoted image]

The concept of James Spader and RDJ as "tuff" is admittedly intriguing.

    Quoted from CrazyLevi:

This movie (good bad ugly) is not somewhat obscure and neither is Outlaw Josey Wales. Not are the monkey movies.
If it was a Clint Eastwood movie that made tons of money, it's probably not "somewhat obscure."

How about this one then, featuring a young Jeff Bridges.

    Quoted from o-din:

You should check out Iron Man on the drums backing up Jim Carroll.

That actually checks out -- I'd like to think that RDJ spent much of the 80s shirtless, croakies bowtie and eye makeup firmly in place, pretending to play the drums.

    Quoted from CrazyLevi:

I'd say thunderbolt and lightfoot qualifies as obscure. I just saw it for the first time. Let me just say I was shocked by the amount of homoeroticism in this film.

Maybe that's why they needed like 30 guns on the poster.

I was one of the seven people that saw Hudson Hawk at the theater — I was in middle-school, big Bruce Willis fan, won free tickets on the radio. Worth every penny.

Lee Van Cleef, what a badass. Those snake eyes were killer.

    Quoted from o-din:

One of it's actors tries to be.

Is it Clint Howard? Making Ron Howard look handsome since 1959.

    Quoted from vicjw66:

To this day I cannot listen to Eric Clapton’s I shot the Sheriff. Every time it comes on the radio I’m reminded of that awful movie.

To be fair, that’s also an awful song.

Did Kurt Russell start out as a contract player for Disney? Seems he was in a bunch of their 70s family films.

    Quoted from Anonymouse:

He was hand chosen by Walt Disney himself on his death bed with his last words being a hand written note.

That’s incredible - Walt Disney discovers a young Snake Pliskin with his dying breath!

    Quoted from vicjw66:

Gee, never heard of that one. Said the man who lived in a cave.

I see the problem, you've mistaken this for the "truly obscure" movie thread. This is the "somewhat obscure" movie thread. You want room 12A, next door.

    Quoted from shacklersrevenge:

This one is pretty good, funny.[quoted image]

“Who wants to take the plunge?!?”

I remember McCool’s being a fun watch, great cast enjoying overacting, Michael Douglas with an awesome toupee. Will have to check it out again sometime.

    Quoted from Pinstein:

I don't think a move can be considered "classic" and "obscure." just sayin

    How about "somewhat classic"?

    Quoted from o-din:

I've got that one recorded along with several other Mitchum classics. Might have seen it already, but a long time ago.

Definitely worth a viewing, solid creepiness from Robert “With and Without Horse” Mitchum, and must have inspired thousands of regrettable knuckle-tattoos over the years.

    Quoted from o-din:

Haven't watched Night of the Hunter yet, but did take in The Big Steal the other night. I'm concentrating on recording noir classics now. Mitchum might have been the king of noir.

Robert Mitchum was the man, he's got some fantastic quotes about acting and didn't seem to take the whole thing too seriously:

    • I have two acting styles: with and without a horse.
    • Every two or three years, I knock off for a while. That way I'm always the new girl in the whorehouse.
    • Sure I was glad to see John Wayne win the Oscar. I'm always glad to see the fat lady win the Cadillac on TV, too.
    • I started out to be a sex fiend, but I couldn't pass the physical.
    • I never take any notice of reviews - unless a critic has thought up some new way of describing me. That old one about my lizard eyes and anteater nose and the way I sleep my way through pictures is so hackneyed now.
    • Movies bore me; especially my own.
