    Quoted from vicjw66:

Gee, never heard of that one. Said the man who lived in a cave.

I see the problem, you've mistaken this for the "truly obscure" movie thread. This is the "somewhat obscure" movie thread. You want room 12A, next door.

To whoever recommended Used Cars, thank you! I was out sick from work yesterday and laughed my ass off at that movie.

Sergeant Schultz on The Partridge Family.

I was afraid to post this, lol. I think it scored a 15% on Rotten Tomatoes, but loved this movie.

I agree. This movie completely fell through the cracks. Why do so many people hate it? Maybe some would say Russell isn’t really acting since he hardly says anything through the movie. I think it was a great performance, he says a lot in an expression. The plot is an absolute classic of getting your comeuppance. Great action throughout.

Yeah, I don’t get that 15% either. I thought it was pretty good.

Has anyone mentioned The Warriors yet? Love that movie, although maybe it’s not obscure enough for this thread...

Pretty obscure considering who made it.

THX1138 reminded me of the other obscure yet very innovative college project, John Carpenters: Dark Star. Well worth watching.

Kirk was so good at out-talking suicidal computers, I wonder how he would have fared against bomb #20.

It will probably not pass the obscure test but it was not a a high grosser.

Haha, I didn’t know the barbarian brothers made a baby sitter movie. I loved them in “the barbarians” great movie. It starts pretty serious with the brothers separated at birth, one was beaten all his life by a man in a red mask, the other by a man in a blue mask. They were each given the others mask and told to “get their revenge” just as a sport for rich people.

Then It starts not taking itself seriously and by the end they climb inside a dragons body and start punching its internal organs....you have to see it to believe it

Don't forget Double Trouble, my favorite of the bunch, although probably the least obscure.

The scene where he handcuffs his brother to the steering wheel and goes into the building to catch the bad guys, where he eventually runs into his brother who freed himself and ran inside to help. Then the two of them chase the fleeing bad guys, run outside and jump in the car in hot pursuit.... Priceless.

I think I liked Twin Sitters the best. After a handful of B movies they fell off the face of the earth.

    #773 4 years ago

I've got a lot of movies on my DVR that would qualify. Not sure I'll ever get around to watching them all.

Here's one for the pinball crowd that might make a great retheme of a certain title.

In memory of Carol Lynley, I watched Blue Denim for the first time last night.

Very controversial movie at the time. But very well done. RIP Carol.

Quick, w/o looking who can tell me starred in PCU who later found huge fame in Iron Man...

PCU starred the agent from Entourage as a 27 year old senior, David Spade, Tracy Ullman as the feminist protester, George Clinton and the Parliament funkadelic, and the drunk stoner who was supposed to hire the band I think was played by the guy from Swingers. I think drunk stoner guy was in Iron Man.

I think it qualifies, it was obscure to me. Iron Sky was an awesomely bad Finnish-German-Australian movie where the Nazis set up a secret base on the moon during ww2 to build a planet-destroying super-weapon. It is now done and all they need is a functioning computer. Unfortunately, one of the lunar astronauts brings an iPad with him...

Watch for the Nazis riding their ww2 sidecar motorcycles around on the moon in space suits with air systems for the motorcycle motors...

Where do the Australians fit into it?

    #784 4 years ago

No Australian actors, they were the production company.

It’s awesome though, after the battery dies on the iPad, they decide they have to invade the earth with flying saucers to get another one.

and there is a sequel in the works!

I can't believe that was 15 years ago that that film came out. I remember the internet movie sites really pushing it....

    #790 4 years ago

That one was a major flameout for sure.

Quiz: What movie had the most internet buzz and excitement in relation to how crappy and dumb it actually turned out to be when it came out?

Here are 2 hints: It involves snakes. And a plane.

    There are a few....

    Armageddon
Snakes on a Plane (answer to your question)
    Batman and Robin
Attack of the Clones ("not has good as ANH and ESP, but better than ROTJ" - yeah right)
    Sky Captain

Those were the good ol days....
