It’s awesome. A budget somewhere in the $50 neighborhood. Roddy is one of the last human males that can still conceive. So it’s his duty (as demanded by the government) to get with every woman he can. Oh yea, and for some reason there are giant mutant frogs who live in a town and even though they are peaceful, they kidnapped all of the fertile women left. What’s a guy to do? Rescue the dames, guns blazing, then leave them with a parting gift...
Check out the trailer, it will give you all you need to know.
I was one of the seven people that saw Hudson Hawk at the theater — I was in middle-school, big Bruce Willis fan, won free tickets on the radio. Worth every penny.

Not obscure and a crappy movie.

Crikes, you might as well put the Indiana Jones series of movies up there as obscure.....
Maybe if the op would remove the word "classic" from the thread title people MIGHT understand better. "Favorite movies that are somewhat obscure".
Quoted from DennisDodel:Maybe if the op would remove the word "classic" from the thread title people MIGHT understand better. "Favorite movies that are somewhat obscure".
I don't know, man. There are over 600 posts now and except for the few I have posted, most of these movies I have never heard of. Or I saw a flyer years ago and forgot all about it.
I'm starting to think the only ones that might pass the obscure test are the slashers shown only at the drive ins.

It seems that virtually every movie is "obscure" to you, which is great- you have hundreds and hundreds of "obscure" movies to seek out and watch, and maybe saw a lot of good stuff in this thread you've never heard of.
A good baseline is that if a movie is Oscar-nominated, a cultural touchstone, or made hundreds of millions of dollars (either now or adjusted), it's probably not "obscure." About half of the movies mentioned in this thread would qualify as "not obscure."
I think "classic" is a little more subjective than "obscure."
For me it's a lot easier to list an "obscure" movie I've seen than an "obscure classic." I just saw Black Sunday, and it's pretty terrible. But it sure is obscure!

Wasn't that coaster on the poster the "Revolution". I went on that a long time ago.
Quoted from jhanley:Wasn't that coaster on the poster the "Revolution". I went on that a long time ago.
Yes it was! I went on it when it first opened and it is amazing the forest that has grown around it since then. Or the amount of development around Magic Mountain period. That place used to be way out in the boonies.

I think I went there first in about 1977 when I graduated from high school and yes at that time it was out in the sticks. I think that was the amusement park in National Lampoons Vacation
Quoted from jhanley:I think that was the amusement park in National Lampoons Vacation
Yes. At the time it was the go to amusement park for movies and TV shows. Wonder Woman used it and so did Kiss for their movie.
I hadn't been there for many years until my daughter was old enough to go, and they have certainly added some of the world's top coasters since then. Two of my favorites are Tatsu and Goliath. And Twisted Colossus is a great upgrade.
Revolution is still going and they finally got rid of those smack your ears shoulder restraints they added sometime in the 80s or 90s. Those really made the ride hard to enjoy.
For reference here is a vid of it when it first opened. At the time there was nothing else like it.
Quoted from CrazyLevi:I just saw Black Sunday, and it's pretty terrible. But it sure is obscure![quoted image]
There’s a joke in there somewhere.
Quoted from vicjw66:There’s a joke in there somewhere.
Is it something about The Rams? I think it was The Cowboys and Steelers in that movie.
For The Rams I think you need to watch Heaven Can Wait. Not that obscure, but a great movie.
This one might be a little obscure now. But not to me. One of the all time great football movies.
There is nothing obscure about Black Sunday, North Dallas Forty, or Krull. You have all made a mockery of this topic. May gawd have mercy on your soles.

I thought Krull was a ultra rare pinball machine.

I forgot all about Black Sunday. I do remember seeing all of the newspaper ads giving it the hard sell. And then it was gone. When Jaws came out everybody was talking about that one at work. Black Sunday? Not a word.
I agree what you say about baselines being established with Oscar nominations and monies earned but I don't pay attention to Oscars and did not bother tracking dollar amounts at IPDB.com. So, some slip thru the cracks.
Quoted from vicjw66:There is nothing obscure about Black Sunday, North Dallas Forty, or Krull. You have all made a mockery of this topic. May gawd have mercy on your soles.
I,sir, take offense to this. I have tried, not quite my hardest, to stick to the topic at hand. Now, that being said, here’s another obscure gem you probably don’t remember
(Yes, this post was meant as poorly played sarcasm)
Quoted from o-din:Made shortly after Jan Michael Vincent's accident which he played right into the movie.[quoted image]
I love that movie! It’s so shitty that it’s awesome!
Quoted from Deezer5150:I love that movie! It’s so shitty that it’s awesome!
And long before the accident...

Sometimes I'm even surprised a bit when I look at my list.
We already watched Hardbodies and Rollerball, and last night the best movie ever made! Well I kept saying that anyway. The original Planet of the Apes. No matter how many new ones they make, that 1968 classic will never become obscure.
I've got this one on my watch again list.

o-din, you posted "Dark Shadows". My office overlooks the "Lockwood-Mathews Mansion" used to file the outside shots of the original TV series. I've seen that building for over 28 years and never went for the tour.

That's far out!
Yeah we watched Dark Shadows every day after school when it was first on. It moved very slowly but they always cooked up some good plots.
Of the two movies based on the original series, I think House of Dark Shadows is the best. It is a crash course of the whole series and moves along much faster with an epic ending any fan of the series would like.
I also watched this one once and seemed to be somewhat forgettable compared to House of.
Quoted from o-din:I'm more laughing at your pinside handle. lol.
"They killed the giggler! They had no business doing that"
Death Wish 3 is my favorite bad movie. I’ve seen it literally 100s of times. Not obscure enough for this thread, though.
Here's one I always liked- Paranoia 1.0, also called One Point O.
"After receiving mysterious empty packages inside his apartment, a young computer-programmer begins a personal investigation into their origins. This leads him to discover his odd and eccentric neighbors; an artificially intelligent robot-head, named Adam; a virtual-reality sex game; and a possible corporate conspiracy. As the story progresses, Simon's grip on reality becomes more and more tenuous, while his craving for Nature Fresh milk becomes almost unbearable. Is it all just in his mind, or is something more sinister happening here?"
Rented it from Netflix long ago, but the last 3 minutes of the DVD was damaged and I never found out exactly what happened. Then it disappeared from the NF's lineup.
