Ain't that a shame.
Quoted from pinkid:One of the forefathers of rock'n'roll.
Right! Elvis and Pat Boone ripped his shit off and sold it to the white man that couldn't handle black folks making great music!
RIP
Such a golden, warm voice, so sincere and soulful. One of the last of the old guard still standing, now silenced forever. No one can fill his shoes, a truly one of a kind talent the likes of which we almost never see anymore.
(Who from that era is still with us now? Little Richard and the Killer are the only ones who immediately come to mind.)
Quoted from cottonm4:Well, Pat Boone is still around
One of the Everly (Don) Brothers.
I guess I thought both the Everly Bros. had passed, very happy to be wrong!
I actually met Pat Boone once in the mid-90s. The music might be pure whitebread cheese, but the man was absolutely without question a real gentleman, truly warm and seemingly kind-hearted, with not even a hint of pretentiousness.
A favorite of mine. My dad bought the 45 in 1958 and we listened to it for years. It was still in his jukebox when he died in 2009. Great piano.
