Quoted from neurokinetik:Also, on an unrelated note, how hard is that shot to the upper saucer supposed to be?
Quoted from neurokinetik:Finally did the linear flipper to early Bally SS flipper upgrade tonight. What. A. Difference.
It's almost scary when you feel how surgical those flippers become......
Quoted from Gatecrasher:If going back to the older design seems like a night and day improvement, then that only means your linears weren't functioning properly.
That's for sure!
Getting rid of that 4000 pound linear plunger alone probably doubles the flipper's acceleration/reaction time.
Quoted from neurokinetik:I'd be interested in seeing just how much less mass is in the older mech.
The linear is double the mass of the standard plunger.
Quoted from DRDAVE:The linear flipper mechs were a failed experiment.
Exactly.
When Williams bought Bally, they now owned the patents to the Linear Flippers, but obviously did not start using them, because they were junk.
Williams used up remaining linear stock on Truck Stop, but only used them on the upper flippers; not the important lower flippers (those of course were Williams).
Quoted from Khabbi:The only thing I did was remove the colored LED's from the backbox
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quoted from HPR:Impossible to make a Fathom repro glass exact to the original in my opinion.
We'll see when Shay gets done with them.
Quoted from nikpinball:I imagine theyll improve upon the cpr and the glass wont be $600 at the very least!
CPR Fathoms were $239 when they were still in stock.
If anyone wants to pay $600 for one, PM me, lol.....
Quoted from mof:It makes me think this is not about switches on the playfield but the MPU instead...?
Swap the MPU with another of your Bally.
But I'll still say it's the switches.
Take the balls out, do the switch test, use a ball to test, bang on the playfield with your fists to simulate vibration...you will find the switches that are either stuck on, responding with the wrong # or not consistently responding correctly.
Quoted from kursiv:Anyone with a playfield swap who has installed lamp boards like these?

I wonder why they did not put all the solder connections along the top edge of the penis?
Or at least put a secondary set of connections along the edge, allowing a normal .156 connector....
IMG_1575_1024x1024@2x (resized).jpgQuoted from TheLaw:Probably becasue the wires wouldn't reach.
They all spread out from the two trunks, if you put the connector there, you would have everything in a single location.
At least offer the option, like the aftermarket KISS lamp board does. Would not cost a single penny extra....

Quoted from swampfire:I thought this was a typo, until I saw the mushroom shape. Thanks for that Vid
Mushrooms have become legalized in 5 states.....
