Ordering the kickout plastic now..
What's the deal with the grey spacers in the pic? I haven't started on my restoration, but seems like mine has a stack of some pieces that I didn't think looked original there. How did it ship from factory? Would be neat to have a 3D printed spacer there!
Thanks for reading..

hey Joey, thanks for the support, I can model up a neat one piece spacer if people want it, just need:
internal diameter
external diameter
length

only take a few minutes to make it available

It would be great if someone that purchased a new Fathom glass from PPS could please post some photos with it installed and illuminated? Even some comparison photos to an original glass if possible. Thanks.

here's my thoughts.

Missing feature light masking is somewhat disappointing. Is this usually a problem with repro glasses?

#354 6 years ago

Thank you. Can you please post your photos here on Pinside? If I try to view them on pinballinfo it wants me to login/register.

Thank you epotech for posting these photos, much appreciated. I take it that the MATCH is not visible when illuminated on the repro glass? The GAME OVER is however visible as shown in the 4th picture and this is the repro glass installed and lit up? If so, can you please post a photo of the original glass installed and lit up so I can make a comparison? Thanks again.

I was going to order a CPR Playboy glass, then I saw some of the issues and the comparison. Was going to order this Fathom glass, and now I'm on the fence. I have the old repro, and my original with a flake missing at the bottom. Is the goof up on this one a big deal?

The mask can be made by hand in my opinion.
This glass look very close to the original.
The original glass is printed like a poster, i can see the same dot patern with a close view, i feel nobody
use the same method of printing and have no access to the original artwork.

Quoted from HPR:

In epotech’s first pic the repro actually looks better than the original with a little bit more contrast in the artwork.

#361 6 years ago

It's as good as you are going to get. Short of a nos glass.

#362 6 years ago

I would like to compare the original and repro glass to determine just how washed out the repro looks, that's my only concern now after looking at your other photos.

6 sets of Fathom rails in the works. This is after the second coat of blue wood dye. Busy day.

They look a lot darker in the picture. But they match very well.

May I ask how you finish them? Lacquer or 2 part clear? Thanks.

I use blue wood dye sold by Stewmac which is used for dying guitar bodies. After a couple coats of that I finish with clear lacquer. These rails take more time than any sets I have done before. Fathom is probably 3x the work of a standard set of rails with the tapered slot and curved notches. That said, I'm stoked to finally get some churned out.

Current sets are spoken for but I'll be all caught up with orders at that point and will probably fire off another 5 sets and put you both down for a set.

Sorry for spamming this group, but I’ve been asked by numerous people about the finish so wanted to post a pic of some rails I finished up today. If you need me you know where to find me. Thanks for all the interest.

I am finally caught up on about 25 sets of rails I had going and am going to get going on a run of Fathom rails.
This is my list of those that want a set. I am not adding to this list but want to be clear as to whom I have down for set in this next run. I have all material on hand to complete these so hope to crank these out. Rails for this run are 65+shipping. After this run price is going to get bumped up a little as cost to make these far exceeds any other set I have done. If anyone on this list is no longer interested please let me know. Thanks. - Taylor

As of 3/2 I have 11 sets in the works with the tapered slot routed, rounded grooves sanded and rails drilled. Next step, hope to get to it this weekend, is to sand everything and prep for finish.

Been working on these whenever I can, but frankly the weather has been shit for finishing. Finally had a couple decent days this weekend so hit them hard. As they sit they have had 6 coats of lacquer, then sanded with 320 grit and another, possibly final coat, was applied. These are he initial 10 sets I had in the works. I have another 4 sets in the wings that will be getting dyed tonight or tomorrow.

But planning to sell a nice original Fathom
What’s the going price ? Ballpark

#385 6 years ago

In my opinion, this club is one of the few that are truly worth being in. Fathom is incredible.

If any of you have had your fill of Fathom, or are ready to move on and have one that is in exceptional condition, please PM me. If this is still up, I am still looking for THE one. I will come back and edit it once I have found her.

I will pay above market value for a machine that is in incredible shape, but please do not mistake my desire as desperation or naivety.

Nice! Are those Bally flippers? I just switched the blue Williams flippers, that had been installed on my restored Fathom, to genuine Bally flippers, but didn't find a blue color choice.

Fellow fathom owners, could you offer some help?

Does anyone know of the part number or, even better, a source for the pop bumper BODY in our machine (the white base part that the pop cap snaps onto)? I can't find the part number in the manual, and searches are tough without it. I'm a little concerned that I am not having much luck.

Thanks in advance.

J

**edit** Is it part number C-470-5 shown here? http://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/03-8325-5
It looks very similar but is not shown in the compatible list of games as being for Fathom.

So have an interesting fathom issue was hoping someone here could help me with. My game was just restored it is beautiful and plays amazing. I just noticed one issue though. When I lock a ball in the blue lock (top right corner) as soon as I press the right flipper button the first inline drop target (3x) registers.....it does not drop...Directly shooting the target will drop it and then shooting the 4x and 5x everything behaves normally. If I press that flipper button and then shoot the left side drop targets it will drop the 4x thinking the 3x is already dropped. Any clue? It only seems to happen when the saucer switch and then right flipper button is activated that this happens.

pasted_image (resized).pngpasted_image (resized).png

#400 5 years ago

two things i would quickly check - remove balls put into switch test mode look for stuck switches & non registering switches, then take a close look at the little expander board under play field for broken/cracked solder on the pins and reflow as needed

just where i would start to rule things out
