they can be found here, single or twin pack (which you need to trim back but saves a few dollars)

Working on some Fathom rails. It’s been a minute since I’ve done a set so figured I’d dip my toes in here.

Anyone have suggestions on a color for the dark blue, lime green and teal for a cabinet paint job?

How steep of an angle is your playfield?

Will have to check. What are you guys running?

No idea...tall leverls all the way up in back and all the way down in front. Depending on the machine & location I have a 2X8 I can put under the back legs.

Here is what I used for the dark Blue. My cab looked pretty good, but the dark blue on the head was beat up badly. Found a really good match with Home Depot, Behr Satin Compass Blue. You can get it in a 7oz sampler for just a few bucks.

Not sure if these numbers mean anything but I took the head from my game to Lowe’s and they color matched pretty darn well.

Started my first playfield swap! Coil mechs removed to molex later. Waiting on the rotisserie and painted rails. All the crappy 555 sockets are getting replaced. Going super slow and taking lots of pictures.

Anyone with a playfield swap who has installed lamp boards like these?

I have used them in Nine Ball & Catacomb and I highly recommend them. Wow I didn't know fathom had some...time to make an order!

Just make sure they're stuck on there well, last time I did a wash my tape came off.

Not a bad idea. I’ve been using your guide along with Vid’s multiple guides. The tear down went quicker than expected, but I think the real work is the re-assembly.

I’ll start a new thread, since I’ll likely need the help!

Hello,

about 2 months ago i found an old fathom Playfield. with a wiring harness without drop target mech.

This is my new project!

But I’m searching one of the three inlaine drop Target mech, wiring harness from the cabinet and from the BackBox.

Do you have an idea, or one of the parts?
look forward to feedback!

Just did my first playfield swap, and so far nothing major. All lights, switches and solenoids seem to be working.

However, there is some odd behavior.

When locking a ball in the Cave Trap, the game says ‘mermaids captured’ but another ball doesn’t kick out, and the drop targets don’t engage.

The switch tests are good, nothing stuck. Drop targets test normal and pop up/down when starting a game. I’ll troubleshoot, but any ideas are appreciated.

Question on the trough switch wires: When I remove the balls, I use a telescopic magnet, pulling them out one-by-one. It pulls backward on the wireforms a bit, but doesn't seem to do much harm. Do y'all think it's unwise to do it this way? If not, what's the preferred method of removing them?

Are all the trough switches working correctly? Those not registering has explained most of my odd issues so far.

I just push the slider that ejects the ball into the shooter lane. You can see it with the coin door open.

Yeah. I went into the switch test, all trough switches seem to be working.

I can’t start a multiball from either ball trap. Super weird. The ball gets captured, the game does the callout, then nothing. No drop targets up, no second ball from the trough.

Could this be a board issue? It’s also possible I have a short somewhere, but it seems odd there are no other symptoms.

#687 3 years ago

Possibly a drop switch is open when should be closed?

#688 2 years ago

Well, my plan of building two fathoms from scratch just came to a screeching halt. I’ve got a ton of new fathom specific parts if anyone is interested.

Full harness set
Backglasses
Reese rails
Drop targets
Pop caps
Aprons
Probably more

Big Announcement from Haggis. I'd imagine this is going to cause the fathom restore projects to hit pause.

Any chance you have a spare backbox clasp?

Is the capture hole switch staying closed when the ball is sitting in them? Does it still fail to initiate multiball when there is a ball in both catch holes?

#693 2 years ago

I’ll be in this club someday. My Seawitch needs a friend.

#694 2 years ago
Quoted from 27dnast:

Or pick up steam... if $7,360 + tax and shipping gets you a remake I think the ceiling just went up on a good restore. Pinside currently shows a range of $5180 - $6020... I think that will now go up. The news that they may have remade the inline drop target mech's is also pretty exciting if they offer those for sale as I think there are restores stuck on not being able to source those. With the decision to not include the 2.0 code in the base model I think there will be plenty of people who decide they want an original.

Underneath the playfield we have designed and manufactured recreations of the original mechs, along with adding in some new components from our existing catalogue.

#695 2 years ago
Quoted from jjga:

Yes, the switch remains closed and the game gives me the callout, but the drops don’t engage and a ball doesn’t kick out.

I suspect the ASW-A1-168 switches or E-587-14 diode may be flaky. If the ball is locked but the game thinks the drop targets are already up, it won’t raise the drops. Thus the ball won’t get kicked out of the trough.

Do you think that may be the problem?

I had similar weirdness with mine a long time ago, and the culprit was the connector for the relay module under the playfield. I replaced the connector and everything was fine. Of course all of this happened while the game was part of a temp trade. Trades and pinball shows seem to bring out the gremlins.

#698 2 years ago

I have the 3 and 6 drop target banks modeled with drawings and dxf. I made protos that worked well. If anybody wants the files, let me know. I’m not going to make them now, good timing because I JUST sent the order to the fab shop. Maybe haggis will sell their mechs?

Do you mean the solenoid expander board?
